Rome (FCO) -AMS-DTW Terminal #?

We will be flying out of the Rome (FCO) airport with a layover in Amsterdam of several hours and then into Detroit.  Does anyone know what terminal we should have our transport driver drop us off at FCO?  I have heard terminal 5 and then 3.  Changes were made in 2018 so need to know since later in 2018 what terminal we should be dropped at?  Also any advice you may have getting around there.  Thanks!

Hard to say.  First - what airlines?   Second, since your first flight is FCO-AMS, that's an intra-Schengen flight.  Those can leave from either Terminal 1 or Terminal 3.   But a quick look at the FCO info page, it looks like the Alitalia and KLM flights go to AMS out of Termial 1.

While the roadway approach to T5 is separate from that of the other terminals, T1 and T3 are immediately adjacent to each other on the same approach road.   Even if it isn't T1 (as determined by signage at the building), you can get the driver to go forward another 150 feet and be at T3.

Sorry, forgot to say what airline - it is Delta.  I was told Delta goes out of 3, but since we are going thru Amsterdam I was not sure.

Delta does not fly between Rome and Amsterdam, so your Delta-issued ticket will likely be on a code-share operated by either KLM or Alitalia.

Yes, it is on KLM code share flight so we would go out of T1 then?
