WHY THE SECRECY?

Recommended Posts

Oasis is supposed to go into dry dock September to October.

RC must know what will be changed/added.

I’m not interested in new bedding, painting, carpets.

Why must it be a secret what will be done?

My best guess is it will look a lot more like Harmony/Symphony. Probably add Ultimate Abyss and Playmakers. Focus will probably be on a dining revitalization. Maybe a new partnership? That could explain part of the reason for the secrecy.

Usually "dry docks" are to do something to the outside or operating systems of the ship, that can't be done while it's at sea.  They routinely paint, clean and replace furniture/carpet while at sea.

The simple answer is that if they just made some humdrum announcement now there'd be no speculation, anticipation, questions like you are asking posted on social media and here in cruise forums, and finally the press release when the big day arrives and the ship upgrades are done.  It's all about the hype.

This will be a Amped dry dock.  When royal uses the term Amped the mean heavy on dining and entertainment changes.

I guess you're not a big enough shareholder.

I'm sure if you owned 10% of RCCL they would tell you.

10% of RCCL will only cost you about $2.6 Billion.... pocket change.

I would expect an official announcement in July/August. They definitely announced Navigator's amped upgrades in November, 2 months in advance. I'm not sure they did the same for Mariner, I can't find any articles until she was closer to being done.

Of course since this would be the first Oasis amp, they may keep tighter lips until during/after. But I agree, it does really make a difference if you're looking at sailings afterwards.

My hunches for the Oasis updates are:

1. Giovanni's Table changes to Jamie Olivers

2. Add Ultimate Abyss

3. Add Starbucks on the Boardwalk

4. Add waterslides and SkyPad - as part of the Amplification

5. Modify the stage in the Ice Rink, to accommodate more versatile selection of shows

6. Upgrade WJ to add a "mandatory" washing station on the way in...

Of course these are all based on what I saw on the Harmony of the Seas last year!!

In any event, looking forward to sailing on her in March 2020!  This will be our 5th cruise on an Oasis class (Allure x3, Harmony x1, and Oasis x 1)!

Why do you have to know?

They will make an announcement when they think it´s time for it.

Why the curiousity and rush to know it?
