And so on they go to Germany, 4 hour bus ride each way Warnemunde/Berlin.  They must be in port for a while.

Nice city Berlin, but you need a couple of days there minimum.

Yes  better to enjoy places near Warnemunde, at your leisure.

The train is next to the dock. When were there we took the train to Rostock and wandered around the old Medieval part of the town , or what was left of it after the war .

Yep too far for a decent look around.

We went to Rostock instead, caught the local train, trams and boats to get around. then some beers and such before heading back to Warnemunde for some shopping and more Beer.

Warnemunde was a major base for the Kriegsmarine (German Navy) in WW2, including submarines.  They got bombed out by the RAF and USAF.   I have been to Berlin but not Warnemunde.

Princess runs a train to Berlin, an interesting trip, better than sitting in traffic on the autobahn. You walk to the train from the ship.  We got to see quite a lot in one day, starting with a visit to a concentration camp, very sobering, then in Berlin all the main sights including checkpoint Charlie, some Americans passed on this because there was a Maccas nearby.  Whatever.

I'm doing a cruise next year that has 14 European port days in a row. There are a few ports where we'll be there overnight though so can take things a bit easier on those days, and some of the places we've been to before. Still, it will be exhausting unless we pace ourselves.

We did a back to back cruise in Europe that had 23 nights and only 4 sea days. It was wonderful but as you say, pacing yourself is essential, we would alternate between a full day type shorex and a 1/2 day type shorex for the duration.

Yes very tiring. We have a tour of Scandinavia next year and we follow that up with a cruise (to rest a bit). However, the cruis eis the Baltics so probably not much of a rest. The good thing is we have visited all but one port (Visby) before so we can take it easy.

Most cruising through Europe is port intensive. Last year we did Baltics/Scandinanvia B2B on Sapphire Princess. A few days break in Southampton then British Isles on Royal Princess.  I had to have another couple of weeks rest in England to get over it all before we headed to Heefrow.  But of all European cruising, The Med is the most port intensive, but then again you are not there for a haircut, you are there to see the places, not just the inside of a ship.

5 ports in a row is always tough, but especially in old cities with cobblestones and such, very tough on the feet and legs.

Indeed, my feet and knees played up a treat walking around Tallin on ye olde cobblestones.   I wonder how many tourists break their ankles there.

Leaving in 2 weeks to join her in Dover.  Hope it is sorted.  Some people on board do not seem to be happy campers.

Gwendy,

Please keep us all up to date on your journey on Sea Princess once you board - we love to hear how others travel 😎 I’m sure it will be wonderful. 💕

Our last Med cruise was 21 nights and 5 sea days. We mostly did half day shorex and/or just pottered around the ports by ourselves. The sea days were nicely spaced out on that cruise so we didn't feel like we were overdoing things.
