Have I chosen the wrong Cabin?

Recommended Posts

We’re booked on the Bliss in a mini suite for a Pacific coastal cruise in 2020, I’m beginning to think I’ve chosen a cabin in not a great location, I’ve chosen a mini suite on deck 9 midship, but on checking the deck plans I think we’re going to be above the restaurants and bars? I Didn’t really want to be much higher up and definitely wanted to be midship, but should I consider changing decks?

Play around with this LINK:

https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/Norwegian-Bliss

Locate your cabin number on deck 9 and see what is above on deck 10 and below on deck 8 your cabin.

Tell us what your cabin number is to give you more vital information - - -

Search on YouTube for NCL BLISS xxxxx (where xxxxx is your cabin number) for video photo images of the cabin.

You are cruising late enough in 2020 to make changes without penalty !

Reviewing the LINK - you have nothing but cabins on deck 10 above and being over a restaurant is not going to

be much of problem - over an entertainment venue with loud repercussion noise YES but restaurants NO .

Thanks for the reply, we’re in 9228, I’ll take a read through what you’ve included in your reply

Hard to get it exactly lined up using the pdf site I found, http://www.cmeatsea.org/images/Ships/bliss_DeckPlans.pdf

But you will definitely have rooms above you which is good, and it looks like you will either be above the duty free shop (very quiet) or above the mojito bar. From my recent cruise on the Getaway I remember the mojito bar having live music a couple of nights during the week, but it didn't go very late into the night like the nightclub does. I would google Norwegian Bliss 9228 and see if any negative reviews pop up, if none do you should be fine!

Thanks everyone, I agree it looks like we’ll be either above the duty free shop or the Mojito bar, but should I be worried about the mojito bar on the waterfront? is that likely to make it noisy below our cabin?

We were in 9240 on Bliss recently and it was above the duty free shop. Your cabin 9228, however, will be above the area as part of the Sugarcane Mojito Bar - where there is live entertainment as well as dance floor.

I think it would be wise for you to move - to 9242 if available, or one deck up.

You'll drive yourself nuts worrying about it. Move up one deck.

The room is actually o.k., but subject to the crowd at the bar (which is sometimes obnoxious).

I’ve just looked at NCL’s website, 9242 isn’t showing as available or anything on deck 10, 9240 is available

would you think every mini suite on deck 10 would already be booked this far out ( October 2020)

When you browse the NCL website and search a specific ship you will not see all the inventory that is available.

Only up to 15 or so cabins in the category of your search - if they are available.

Your search is inhibited by looking solely for one type category of cabin.

There is the possibility between now and sailing of a cancellation or for the immediate day or two of a TA or

other agency having a hold on a cabin or block of cabins.

Keep searching and do make that call to NCL to widen your search envelope for other similar cabins/decks.

Still stuck with an undesirable cabin/location keep checking back and if offered an opportunity to bid/upgrade

to something else consider that option.

Grrrr! I’ve just called to ask to swap cabins, yes I can do that but, I’ll loose 2 of my current perks (dining package and obc), I appreciate its my fault as a first timer not researching my cabin properly but I’m so disappointed in NCL 😢

I wouldn’t worry about it to be honest.  The Mojito bar is one of my favorites because it’s actually pretty quiet most of the time.  Of all the bars/lounges to be above, that’s probably the best.

Above noise is not bad, especially restaurants and bars, it is music  venues and the pool decks you want to avoid.

Are you asking for a Mini in the same category?  (Like MB or MC).    If so, I don't think it would be a cancel and re-book.  I would think they could change your cabin # within the same category without a problem.

I've done this before with NCL's CAS (casino booking) group with no problem and keeping my same promos.

I only book a cabin on a deck that is sandwiched between decks that are exclusively cabins.

Guarantees? No way.

I think most live music in that bar is done by 10 or 11. Maybe not the best if you're a super early sleeper but otherwise it should be ok. And I don't believe it's a bar that's open early either. The late night club is down on 6 so I wouldn't think you'd have a lot of people going up two decks to the waterfront to hang out.

#15 Initially I asked about moving up to deck 10, the agent said that was an extra £10 each so I assume it was a different category, I agreed to that, it was then she said I would loose 2 of my perks, so I said what about if I stay on deck 9 but move cabins, she said it’s the same, you’d loose your perks because that offer isn’t on any more, maybe it’s because we are in the UK?

Wonder what the answer outcome would be if you called back and got a 2nd opinion - check with your supervisor ???

If you are just changing cabin numbers in the same class there should be no loss of perks (and of course you did not

expect to gain any either).

Consider also if you stand to lose those perks because of class of cabin change what those perks with new cabin will be.

Are they any better - is it worth it to gain or regain similar perks ?

OK you are in the UK are you talking directly to a NCL UK representative ?

Why is there a different standard for other across the pond cruisers i.e. USA Canada ?

Something rotten in the state of Denmark - no make the Norway !

I have called and changed cabins before and there was never any problem with an upcharge or losing perks.

However I am in the U.S. and it was a couple of years ago. If it were me I would call back and see if someone

gives you a different answer.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and help, I have taken this further by emailing the U.K. head of NCL, just really to give my feedback and my thoughts that it seems a little unfair, anyway following that it was quickly resolved and we’ve now been moved to cabin 10200 which I’m very happy about, revised invoices sent through and we’ve paid the extra £10pp because it’s a cat MB and the previous cabin was MC, the agent advised I take my invoices with me when I travel as it seems she had to get their IT Help Desk to arrange this, anyhow a happy ending x
