Jacksonville port boarding pass question....

Hello!!

I am wondering if the bar code on the upper right corner of your boarding pass is scanned before you board now?  I cruised in January and they never even scanned it...so why is it there???

For one thing, if you don't have early access to your cabin, you won't have your S&S card, so if you wish to purchase any drinks they will scan your bar code on the boarding pass in order to charge you.  EM

Duhhhh.....I never even thought of that!!  Thank you for sharing!!  So, I'm assuming they do not scan it for boarding?

They’ve been scanning ours for boarding, but it’s been a while since we’ve sailed out of Jacksonville.

Something doesn’t sound right. How do they know who has boarded the ship if they aren’t scanning boarding passes when people board the ship?  They have always scanned our boarding passes (or S&S cards in the past) when boarding the ship.

In JAX, they will now scan your boarding pass as you enter the building.  If your room is not ready, then the pass is also scanned for drink purchases until you get your S&S card.

Yes....they are scanning it at check-in as you enter the building.
