Uniworld excursion question

I am looking at details of a couple river cruises I am considering.  Several of the excursions are "Do as the locals do"....(city).

Can someone who has taken any of these excursions give a quick overview regarding what these entail?

Before you decide if you want that type of excursion, you can ask the cruise director on board for details of the itinerary. We have enjoyed the few we have chosen, with a more laid back vibe and insights from the local guides. We learned things we wouldn't have if we had wandered around on our own.

We did one on Paris in April while on the Joie de Vivre. It was wonderful, our guide escorted us the subway and we visited a number of sights. Including Notre Dame, which was just 2 days before the fire. Shocked when we heard about that, our guide was so passionate about Notre Dame, I could only imagine her reaction to the devastation. We stopped at a shop where she purchased macarons for the group.

They usually involve a walking tour of the old town sections of whatever city/town you are visiting.  You'll learn a bit more & see more than if you do the panoramic tour.  You'll usually end up at a local market or maybe a specialty store to try a small snack that the area is famous for & then have some time on your own to explore a little more or shop (or have a cappuccino or glass of wine:))

As PP said the Cruise Director will have more info on the excursions-they usually go over each of the next days options at the evening Port Talk the night before.

Enjoy your planning!!

The Do As The Locals Do tours on Uniworld have been one of the big highlights of their cruises for me.  As Jklc already mentioned, you get information and insights that only a local can provide.  For instance,  in Budapest, our guide talked about growing up in Hungary during Soviet times. She showed us how to use the street car and subway systems,  and we stopped at a bakery for a cake 🍰 and coffee break.
