Gibraltar bus system

Recommended Posts

We plan to use the bus system in Gibraltar, to primarily have a meal at Bistro Point, but have yet to find some of the details we need. (https://www.bistropoint.gi

  1. Rte 2 appears to from Market Place --where is it in relationship to the cruise terminal?
  2. How do we pay for a day pass? Will the driver issue it? What is the current price and currency?
  3. What stop on the return would be close to the Alameda Gardens?
  4. Is there a map that shows the route?
  5. Any recommendations as to other stops on the return journey?

Thanks

Here's a map of the route - it's not great, because the stops are tiny orange dots, you click on the stop name on the panel on the left and it zooms in. You then see that little orange dot in the centre of the zoomed-in section.

Since it doesn't name places, it's easier to figure if you look at it alongside googlemaps - I've overlaid the bus route on this googlemap

And the walking route from the cruise terminal to the bus terminus

The Market Place bus terminus (well, more a series of bus stops) is behind Casemates Square - just follow the herd from the ship, it's a 15-minute walk, and you#'ll see the buses on your left just before the entrance to Casemates  Square

The stop you want for Alameda Gardens is the Rock Hotel.

Gib is a small place, you can walk back to Casemates Square down Main Street in 20 minutes.

From Alameda Gardens walk across the big parking lot & past the cablecar station & thro the entrance to the town.

First sight is by the South Bastion entrance  - the little Trafagar cemetery, with the graves of Nelson's Battle of Trafalgar sailors who died of their wounds in Gib. (those who died in battle were buried at sea).

When you get to Main Street there are other sights like the Governor's residence plus duty-free shops, cafes, pubs, etc.

Sorry, can't help with day-pass ticketing.

I've used euros on the route to the Spanish border, but don't know about the rest of the bus system.

Hopefully Gib's resident CC member, ollie&bertiesmum, will see this thread & chip in.
