AKUREYRI CITY BUSES

Recommended Posts

Akureyri itself, imho, is not that interesting a place, but it's a great jumping off point for seeing some spectacular natural sites (as well as the Myvtan Nature Baths).  Excellent full-day excursions are available.   See my comments (and those of others) in this thread, for example:

From Akureyri there are some fabulous and very different places to see.  We did a tour with FAB tours and this was 8 hours and on the go all day as there is so much to see.  There is no way you would see these places by public transport.

If you're looking for a cheaper alternative than taking a tour, you might consider renting a car.  The roads are fabulous and easy to navigate with a map or GPS.  I think tour guides are overrated for places like this where they are mostly just providing transport to the various sites.
