Suite sun deck on the Allure

I understand that sailing in a Grand Suite would allow us access to the Suite Sun Deck.  What is special about this area?  Can we bring non-suite guests into this area with us?  Is drink service provided in this area?  How about special seating?

Hello Nashna - The area is very calm with loungers and first-come-first-serve cabanas with padded couches.  You don't have to deal with the "chair hogs" in general.  There is no pool, but I believe there are misting stations.  As with most suite amenities, it's meant only for guests sailing in suites.  Flavored water is complimentary, as well as bagged snacks.  I'm not sure about alcoholic beverages.

There is a fully stocked bar up there---with bartender for   a few hours, do not remember the exact times,   that you can use your drink package, or purchase.

 

The flavored water is the only free item to drink.

 

Basket of free  munchies at bar.

 

Nice loungers and a couple cabana type dwellings.

 

Nice place to relax for awhile, but can get mighty hot.

 

Have not seen in crowded.

 

I have never seen anyone check sea pass cards to see if all up there belong there.

This is good to know.  It is a suite perk that RCCL doesn't really promote.  We are going with family.  We have two grand suites and five ocean view balcony rooms so I don't expect to use most of the perks.  Still, it would be nice to get away from the nasty towel games every once in a while.

You need to use your sky class sea pass card to open the gate.  Have once observed crew member checking sea pass cards on Oasis when there were too many non-suite guests sneaking in when the gate did not close at times, so be prepared for that if it comes. 

 

There are also other places to relax, besides the suites deck, with your non-suite family members around the ship's decks that are not near the pool games atmosphere.  The Solarium is very quiet and nice.  

 

Otherwise, as mentioned...it gets hot up there on the suites deck and children will get bored easily.  DH loves it to go up there to read, but he likes the heat.  

 

There is no special seating...first come, first serve.  One side is smoking area, other is not.

Sounds like a nice group. I wouldn’t try and bring 5 cabins of non suite guests up there it would not be fair to people that paid to use that area. 1 or 2 people maybe but not a bunch

I wouldn't think of bringing the whole gang up there.  Six of the 19 family members are in suites so we might break away once in awhile.  Fortunately, most of the family members are not big breakfast eaters, so we will probably go to breakfast daily in the Coastal Kitchen.

Not much shade, except for in the little cabanas that are first come first served and most times grabbed up early that some suite pax will take for the whole day on a sea day.  There is no breeze in those as they are quite enclosed, so they do tend to get very warm.  No pool up there, but there are "misters" to cool down.  

 

Coastal kitchen for breakfast is suite pax only.  Limited space.

Last August while we were on Allure there was a couple that invited many in the group they were traveling in to the Suite Sun Lounge, non-suite guests, and I mean a lot.  They placed a towel at the gate so it couldn't close completely and they just kept coming.  When we got there about 10:30 in the morning the place was packed, one of the few times we found it so, and we sail Allure several times a year.  And they took over the cabanas up front and were really loud.  Finally a couple from the UK talked to an RCCL officer and they began enforcing the access, checking cards, and checking frequently that the gate was closed.  We pay the money for a full suite so we can enjoy the perks, CK, show seating, suite sun deck, suite beach at Labadee, etc...again, we are paying for these, like people pay for first class on airlines.  If people bring non-suite guests it diminishes what we pay for and honestly is a cheesy, no-class act.

personally if I was not a suite guest I wouldn’t use that area.  I’m cruising this Sunday on the Allure in a ATS 2 bedroom and I plan on using the sundeck

I'd rather hang out on the suite balcony than up there. To tell you the truth, I never go up there.  I've walked up there two or three times to take pictures,  but that's it. 

 

We booked the 2bd ATS next year for its balcony. 😉

We book OS for the balcony (best balconies on Oasis class ships in my opinion) but if you want to get some sun its covered, so a few hours away from the crowds at the suite sun deck is nice

I hate to sound snarky...but, Suite guests pay dearly for the suite perks. I feel that it is tacky and disrespectful to invite non suite guests to join you to enjoy said perks. If you want to hang out with non suite guests, then join THEM in areas designated for their use. Or just break off from them for this time & enjoy the perks that YOU paid for, meeting up with them later. We will be doing this on an upcoming cruise...they had the same opportunity to book a suite as we did, they chose not to, so we'll meet them during the day here & there or we'll hang out with THEM.

 

I don't get to sail in a suite often, but when I do, I want the experience to be what it is designed to be. If I were not a suite guest...I'd be totally mortified if I were asked to leave a place I wasn't supposed to be in. When non suite guests invade the suite guests space, then that causes the staff to check everyone's credentials... making extra work for the staff & bothersome to those that have the right to be there.

 

I do hope that you don't proceed with these plans.... it's like stealing (in a way)..getting something you did not pay for. Just my .02 worth.

No worries.  I won't be bringing non-suite family members to any venue where they are not allowed.  That is why I asked if non-suite passengers could be brought up to the sun deck suite area if they were with a suite guest.

There are on ships that don’t have Suite Sun Decks.... but I do not know about this ship... would like to know that answer as well.

There are multiple pools on Allure, but I only saw the suite sun deck blocked off at the stairs.   The deckplans don't show any other reserved suite spaces around pools. If you're mobility challenged, getting around and to the suites deck is an issue.  The cabanas were pretty close quarters.  Fitting the 3 of my family in a cabana (if they would have put up with the heat!) would have been interesting.  The deck is over the solarium, so the kiddo would have been annoyed.

 

I believe someone mentioned a workaround for an interior working elevator to the suites sun deck, but I can't remember the details at the moment.  The deck plan only shows stairs for that reserved area.  I thought it would have been a neat setup to chill/nap had they put AC or outdoor fans in place.

No.  Junior Suites get no real  suite perks, unless you consider the "priority" boarding a perk.

So you don't need to bring a towel with you?   If not, then it seems like suite passengers don't need to worry about the $25.00 lost towel fee.
