Cruising on the Hudson River

Recommended Posts

My DH is interested in sailing the Hudson River. He doesn't want to stop much along the way. He's basically interested in just sailing from NY Harbor to Albany. He's pretty much interested in doing the trip from NY Harbor to Albany (or reverse) over no more than 2 days, 3 days at tops so he can experience the Hudson River. (We take the train down and back to NYC frequently and the tracks are along the river.)

So, does anyone know of a company that might offer such a trip? (We've already checked American Cruise Lines.)

Thanks for any information.

I believe ACL and Blount Small Adventure Cruises are your only choices.

it might be worth looking into a private yacht charter.

American Cruise Line has small ships that sail this route

There's always the shorter and much cheaper version of a Hudson river cruise from NYC to Bear Mountain or West Point.  Passes the GW and Tappan Zee bridges, the Palisades, goes through the widest part of the river where it is 3 and 1/2 miles across, and ends up in historic West Point.

Leaf peeping day trips are also available in autumn from some of the Westchester/Rockland/Orange Cty river towns, as well as quick ferries from one side of the Hudson to the other..

What is nice also is in the fall there are trips that leave NY and NJ, sail up the Hudson to West Point, give you tickets to a football game at the academy and then the return trip.  Its especially nice because they are in the fall when the leaves are changing.

Thanks for the info. Do you, by any chance, have the name of a company that operates these cruises?

Start with the Circle Line cruises .  Circle means they go around Manhattan Island, but they also used to do the cruises up to West Point.  I was on one man, many years ago.
