Day trip to Rome

In civitaveccia in July with royal Caribbean, any advice on DIY trips to Rome as trips seem very expensive with cruise company

It's a very broad subject, best to start by searching the many threads already in this forum ......

 

Go to the little "search" box near the top right of this page.

Type a couple of key words into the box, mebbe "Rome train" or "Civitavecchia"

In the box that dropped down when you clicked on "search", click on "this forum" (to avoid excessive irrelevant posts).

Finally click on the little spyglass  in the search box.

This will bring up all relevant posts (and a few irrelevant ones).

Stax of facts & opinions there.

 

When you've gleaned all you can, ask on here about anything you couldn't find an answer for.

Near the top of this page you'll find a thread called " NEW CIVITAVECCIA - ROME EXPRESS TRAIN ". 

This is a great option for transportation to/from Rome.  You can even choose to include the bus from the port to the train station which makes it even easier   On the trenitalia site you just choose your starting point as Civi  Porto then which of the 2 Roma destinations you choose.
