Car Rental in Messina?

Four of us travelling together, I want to go to Mt Etna and stop at a few wineries. There doesn't seem to be a tour available that fits the bill, as we'd like to spend more time at the lava rocks and wineries and not get dropped in Taormina for hours. Private tours are well over 200 Euros pp.

 

We have 11 hours in port (9am-8pm) so I'm thinking it would be best to rent a car to maximize our time the way we want.

 

Does anyone have experience or recommendations for car rental near the cruise port in Messina?
