Time of year

If I were going to choose a time of year, I would pick January and February. During that time the Dry Season is well established and the humidity is about as good as it will get.  Don't worry, I am sure it will still seem pretty humid for someone not from the tropics.

The dry season is January to April. Having been through well over 20 times, in almost every month of the year, very few transits had no rain. Therefore, even in the dry season you can still get some rain.

Agree that Jan/Feb or even Mar/April are good options.
