cruisingram1 Posted June 13, 2019 #27 Share Posted June 13, 2019 The cruise I was going to purchase yesterday, before reading here that a new promo started today, went up exactly $300. We don't drink much so it's not worth paying $300 p/p for an occasional glass of wine. If I hadn't looked at pricing one day prior I'd just have chalked it up to price fluctuation, but this is clearly an increase to cover the cost of the booze package. Anyone know the history of the 3 for Free promo? Does it typically follow this one? Someone noted that often a $250 OBC is offered in lieu of the booze, but I did not see that as an option today. Bummed. I guess I should have booked yesterday. Now will have to wait it out.

We had one cabin where the category is sold out. So we had to change to a different category to book the S&S. Gracie115 Posted June 13, 2019 #29 Share Posted June 13, 2019 Our cost only went up $80 per person....well worth it for a 10 Day sailing
Flafun888 Posted June 13, 2019 #30 Share Posted June 13, 2019 So disappointed. Our cruise cost went up $500 ($250/pp) for an ordinary 7 day caribbean...no obc or anything, other than PBP. Would have liked the S&S, but not at that cost. What annoys me is that price was lower this am WITH advertised promo, but site wouldn't let me book it. Then all of a sudden, price jumped $500 and it suddenly worked.
Bollycats Posted June 13, 2019 #31 Share Posted June 13, 2019 We are booked on the Enchanted Princess for an Eastern Caribbean cruise in Nov 2020. With the Sip 'n Sail package our price went up $50 per person. We are not big drinkers, but $50 divided by 7 days is $7.14. That's not even the cost of one mixed fruity drink or a glass of wine! With coffee, sodas, bottled water, etc this is definitely a good deal for us. Called first thing this morning and switched!
wenpop Posted June 13, 2019 #32 Share Posted June 13, 2019 I can't get this deal until my personal planner gets in today at 1:15.... Why won't the other planners help out? My booking only goes up $150;
Yehootu Posted June 13, 2019 #33 Share Posted June 13, 2019 Our 28day Hawaii/Samoa/Tahiti, went up $200pp, but SnS is worth $1907.00pp. A great deal, but I'll probably rebook interline fare next year and lose it. But in case they don't drop fare for interline, I made out well.
bballmomma Posted June 13, 2019 #34 Share Posted June 13, 2019 I have been watching an Alaska cruise for next June. The price went up $140 total today for the cabin we wanted but added the Sip and Sail so we booked it. The deposit also went down to $500 from $1100. That was my favorite part. It will be our first time sailing with Princess.
LoriPhil Posted June 13, 2019 #35 Share Posted June 13, 2019 Wahoo - thanks for the heads up! We just got the S&S for our Nov 30, 2020 Sky sailing. Just $80 increase in fare, so yay! Also checked our May 2020 cruise on the Pacific Princess, but that was a whopping $800 per person increase for a 12-day cruise, so think we'll just pay as we go on that one since we swap our elite mini bar for coffee cards and have already purchased the water package. cherylandtk Posted June 13, 2019 #36 Share Posted June 13, 2019 Our S&S results: Oct 2019 cruise-Sale does not apply Jan 2020-price of cruise has steadily increased since we booked, now up by $495 per person. S&S pricing did not change from price checked a few weeks ago, but our booked price is better. May 2020 Alaska cruisetour. S&S price the same as our booked price. OBC/grats on booking $25 less than what we value the drink package. Not changing for that, as we don’t drink as much on an Alaska itinerary, and we think 3/F might work better for us. Jan 2021 Caribbean B2B2B. S&S pricing is up $160 pp, but for a 21 day cruise it is worth it for us to switch, so we did.

The fare is higher than it was last week, about 2 to 3 days worth of the S&S. This will lock in our cabin for the 2021 voyages. We probably will change to the 3 for free if it becomes available. I noticed that the S&S ends July 16th. Wonder what comes next? The past few years the 3 for free didn't begin until September. Actually the fare came out lower than last week by around $17/day. DrivesLikeMario Posted June 13, 2019 #40 Share Posted June 13, 2019 My 2 cruises went UP in price: $900 and $422. There's no way we can drink $422 worth of beverages in a week, much less $900!
nukesubsailor Posted June 13, 2019 #41 Share Posted June 13, 2019 I have had several cruises for 2020 and 2021 booked since they first became available. This morning I compared the fares shown on the Princess website with those that I originally booked. Todays fares on the website were $100, $120, and $130 higher than my original fares. I asked my travel agent to try to get me the Sip & Sail promotion. My travel agent got me the Sip & Sail promotion for only $50, $70 and $80 more than my original fares. That is $50 less than what is shown on the website. I think that may have something to do with the $50 launch fare discount. To top it all off, my travel agent gifted us chocolate dipped strawberries and travel mugs.
Thrak Posted June 13, 2019 #42 Share Posted June 13, 2019 Had to look. We booked a B2B2B under the 3 day sale. Just checked pricing on all three. First cruise is 6 days. We got the beverage package and gratuities. We paid $70 per person more than Princess is offering to day BUT Princess doesn't list that cruise as a Sip and Sail cruise nor do they include gratuities. We come out $883.48 ahead. Second cruise is 13 days. We paid exactly the same fare Princess is showing but also got gratuities. We come out $377 ahead. Third cruise is 14 days. Again, we paid exactly the same fare Princess is showing but got gratuities included. We come out $406 ahead. Total advantage for the 3 day sale vs Sip and Sail: $1,666.48. Many thanks to all who steered us to the 3 Day Sale!

JF - retired RRT Posted June 13, 2019 #46 Share Posted June 13, 2019 We have a Mexico cruise on the Golden in May 2020. Paid $1215 for an inside with free grats and some OBC. S&S sale is $1185, we'd lose our grats and OBC. No deal. 28 day Tahiti on the Emerald in 2021 inside, went up $70pp, but we trade our mini-bar for coffee cards (we don't really drink the other stuff that's on the Soda pkg.). No deal. B2B2B (total of 29 days) on the Pacific in 2020 OV obst. paid $5147pp. New price if we changed to the straight 29 day cruise is $5000. If we moved to an inside, the price drops to $4800. That one's a possibility, but we're leaning toward cancelling it, so we will likely not take deal.
suekel Posted June 13, 2019 #47 Share Posted June 13, 2019 I can't participate in the Sip and Sail as it can't be combined with getting a casino discount. My next cruise is in January...for curiosity sake, I looked up the price. Right now a CC mini is $1300 pp more than I paid for my Vista Suite. Think I'll stick with what I got! springfire Posted June 13, 2019 #48 Share Posted June 13, 2019 We have a 25 day cruise on the Enchanted in October, 2020. We paid $2999 for an inside cabin and now the price for that cabin has gone up all the way to $4179. We had no luck with the sip and sail sale but we are still feeling good about the original deal for our cabin.
famski740 Posted June 13, 2019 #49 Share Posted June 13, 2019 Just got notification from our TA. She has re-fared our no promo Alaska Cruise with the Sip & Sail promo. Cost increase was $117.04 for entire 10 day cruise, PBP for both passengers comes to $1415.80. Great promo
13cheermom Posted June 13, 2019 #50 Share Posted June 13, 2019 We also got the new drink promo for about $70/pp, I'm sure we will drink at least if not more (lol) than 1 drink per day. Now the hard decision is when do you decide to let the drink package go in lieu of price drops, 🤔. It will be a touch decision to make. I kind of like the idea of not worrying about how or what I drink and just get them whenever. We've never purchase a drink package before in our many years of cruising, but don't normally sail where it is offered as a perk. Guess this will be a good cruise to figure it out, since it's not really costing us that much. Thanks for all the helpful tips on here these past couple of weeks!
