What a horrible tragedy. Going there in December and now wondering how safe Belize really is. May just stay in tourism village or on the ship

Read the article.   The incident happened on Ambergris Cay, not on the mainland.  It appears the intended victim was the guide, not the doctor who, unfortunately, also happened to be there.

Omg. My DH is a Dr and I was thinking he would like the fishing excursion. Won't be doing that now!
