Eurodam pros and cons?

After sailing on other lines,we've now sailed on HAL twice,and now booked a sailing on Eurodam for January. I've looked at Youtube,and been impressed by what I see. For those that have been on her,what are the good and bad points?ts?

I just got off Eurodam last week and I have sailed her several times.  She's definitely one of my favorite HAL ships.  She has the Tamarind (an upcharge but worth it).  Tamarind is an Asian restaurant that even my "American comfort food" loving husband likes. I enjoy the Lincoln Center Stage (although it's location is not totally ideal and it's a tad small for the more popular concerts.) The America's Test Kitchen is fun (located in the Queen's (multi-purpose) lounge (also where B.B. King Club performs.)  I really enjoy the thermal suite. The casino is quite small, but it is also now non-smoking!! 

 

The only cons I can think of:  1. They have tampered with the Crow's Nest and it's not so nice.  They have moved the excursion desk there (where Explorations Café was).  This means that, instead of it being conveniently mid-ship, it's a trek up to the observation desk all the time.  They cut the original bar and now it's half bar, half Explorations coffee bar. They turned one corner into a sort of mini movie, spa salesroom venue.  I truly didn't spend much time up there this last cruise (and didn't get a single coffee from Explorations Café). 2. I am not a fan of Eurodam's atrium, design-wise (personal taste).  I like most of the other ships better.  HAL is never an over-the-top, glitzy public space kind of ship design, but the Eurodam atrium is just kind of meh.

Our only negative is the cut up of the Crow's Nest -- poor judgement on HAL's part.  Thus not much of a library.

 

We love the Tamarind restaurant -- eat there a lot.

 

We have sailed on the Eurodam quite a few times.

I can't think of any down side. We'll be on her again in August. We absolutely love Tamarind, so book that for (at least) one of your evening meals.

What night was the formal night?

Eurodam is our favorite ship, but I have to second everyone on the Crow's nest.  It used to be our daily hangout, we just loved the cozy ambiance that the library had.  This last sailing we were hardly ever up there, thankfully we have adopted the Ocean Bar as our new "hangout".  And we weren't alone, many of my fellow cruisers had also abandoned the Crow's Nest for this fantastic midship venue.  By day we could sip coffee, work on our puzzles, read, and look out at the passing promenade parade all under the watchful eye of Poseidon; they have a fantastic daily happy hour with great prices and usually there wasn't a seat to be had; but the conversation was friendly, plentiful, and spirited even when it was standing room only.  Evenings were quieter which made it the perfect place for a nightcap.  We feel very lucky to have discovered it because we were so bummed out about the Crow's nest and we did give it a try, a couple of times, and it was ok for a coffee in the morning but the warmness of the "lounge" is gone.   

 

Agree with everybody on the Tamarind as well.  We loved their lounge, and it's the room I requested for the Cruise Critic M/G that I coordinated.  It's off the beaten path and it's never packed, it's one of those quiet spots that every ship seems to have.  And it sums up what we like about the ship as a whole, it's the right amount of passengers, never felt crowded nor did it ever feel dead. 

 

We're sailing on her again in April and highly recommend this ship!

There was no Gala Night since the cruise left late fron San Diego.

There were no drawers in our Spa Cabin.   

Cabanas took up an entire side of the Lido Pool area reducing spaces for sitting "outdoor".

Apart from the these two items we liked the ship.

We will sail on Eurodam the third time this December.

She's a delightful ship; perfect size; good layout except for the Crow's Nest; wonderful staff and crew.

Best tip, don't miss the gallery bar.  Great table games, art, and good bar service.

 

Biggest miss...the top 40 music played throughout even in tamarind in the middle of the day, but that might be fleetwide and not really that bad of an issue.
