When facing Visa concerns irrespective of which country one is from and irrespective of where one is going to asking questions pertaining to such visas on forums like this and Trip Advisor and other such forums is fraught with danger.. Correspondents on these forums are not immigration experts, nor are we authorised to comment on behalf of any government on immigration matters. If someone has an issue go to the immigration dept of the country involved. Most have detailed websites where the information can be obtained or at least a contact email address on the site. If one relies on advice given here and it is wrong caveat emptor

Fair enough, but if someone here gives advice that is incorrect, several others will quickly post a different view. Then the OP can check it out.

Experience dictates that this cannot be guaranteed. Conflicting advice only guarantees confusion and unnecessary stress

It is quite likely that the person has already checked the situation on line, or with their travel agent, but would like confirmation from people on this forum that they haven't needed a visa. 🙂

My comments are even stronger for the above post. Only a country's immigration dept can be truly relied upon to determine whether or not a visa or ETA or ESTA or any other requirements are needed for access across the border. Principally because we don't have all the facts pertaining to a reason for a visa. An example is a citizen of one country may not need a visa to enter another country but if that person is not born in the country of which they are now a citizen, they may need one. The relationship between India and Pakistan is a case in point and Israeli passport holders  going to certain Arab countries

The thread relates to Australian passport-holders visiting New Zealand. 🙂 I agree that in some of the 'touchy' examples you have quoted, the person should get definitive advice from the Immigration Department of the country involved.

And when you get different advice from every different immigration dept rep you speak to?  There are plenty of threads here that are sorted because a poster knew better than the so-called immigration expert.

 

As you say caveat emptor - this applies to everything on the interweb.

Aus Traveller One cannot assume that a poster has done any research at all prior to asking their question, many of which have been answered many times on different threads if one chose to look through the previous threads. Some posters will do some research, some will do a lot and some will do nothing and expect others to do the work for them.

So which is it, I asked them. They need to be more concise with something so important.
