TIA CG We just went to the fort & walked around the town which was fine. There is a trip to a Orangutan sanctuary which we wanted to do but the reviews are not that favorable on TA so we decided not to go.
CIRCUSGIRL Posted July 19, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted July 19, 2019 Many thanks Hobbie65, yes not too keen on animal sanctuarys as such. We'll see what the ship offers nearer the time.

BTW we had a wonderful time - so much so we booked another two Clipper cruises when we got home 🙂 I worked for 6 years on cruise ships & we have also cruised on many on holiday but we absolutely loved these ships - enjoy
CIRCUSGIRL Posted July 21, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted July 21, 2019 Yes, looking forward to it, awaiting events in the Persian Gulf to see if affects flights between UK and Phuket.

They will reroute them like they did over the Ukraine a few years back. Our next vacations are going west - Peru in a few weeks (Machu Picchu for the bucket list 🙂) & Caribbean on the Star Flyer but we would still have no problems going east. CIRCUSGIRL Posted July 21, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted July 21, 2019 We're flying with Qatar to Phuket, not long back from Vietnam, some of the flights back to UK rerouted over China.

I really liked Qatar Airways - we used them a lot when we lived in India. We used BA/Malaysia when we went to Phucket a few months ago via Kuala Lumpur - a nice upgrade with BA & only about 20 passengers from KL to Phucket so rather enjoyable 🙂

CIRCUSGIRL Posted February 11, 2020 Author #10 Share Posted February 11, 2020 Well, 1st time on Star Clipper and what a lovely way to travel. Peter the cruise director was excellent and very informative ( pay attention at lifeboat drill as you will be questioned on it ) The mix of passengers were mainly European and very well travelled and entertaining. We did our own tour in Penang with a local guide and driver ( around £60 ) for a very enjoyable tour of Georgetown of around 4 hours. The ships excursions were possibly a bit over long and padded according to those who went on them. The food and drink were excellent, and all of the crew were great with no issues. Had a go at diving and the instructor was very professional so no worries there. Would we go again? yes possibly the Borneo trip. Thank you Star Clipper for a wonderful trip.
