How to get from FCO Rome Airport to Civitavecchia Cruise Port???  Will be sailing on the Jewel of the Seas, Royal Caribbean.  What's the best or typical way if getting from the airport to the ship, and back to the airport for the return flight home?

Thank you, appreciate all information!

You can take a car service or taxi (about 120 euro, one hour) or the train (11 euro, 90 minutes - two hours).

The downsides of the train include the possibility of not getting a seat and having to stand, needing to carry your bags down a full flight of stairs and up the other side to exit the station in Civitavecchia, either walking or taking a public bus one mile from the station to the port entrance where you get the free shuttle bus.

There is another option we rarely mention because it's so unlikely to fit with anyone's timing, the public Cotral bus from the airport to the cruise port.

There's only one per day, Monday - Saturday, at 15:35 (3:35 PM), arriving to the cruise port just before 5 PM.  If this is your boarding day it's probably too late but it might work for those spending the night in Civitavecchia prior to departure.

It's a direct bus and the fare is 4,30 euro.  It departs from the bus bay at T1/T2.

In Civitavecchia the bus stops in front of the train station and then at the corner of Via Isonzo and Via Braccianese Claudia, across from the port shuttle bus pick up point.

Another option is to join your roll call....you can usually find others willing to share a ride(cost is per car not per person)...or join in with someone who is looking for others to join.

First trip we did just that for a British Isles cruise...we had a super organizer...had a full bus going to the port and they had to put a trailer on the back for all the luggage!

Have continued to do that on our other trips and it has worked out fine!

Have a great trip!

+1 for one of the flavors of car/taxi service.

We are comfortable with trains and figuring out subway and bus systems when we travel but if you are going to and from the airport and the port then I would arrange some sort of car service.  We spent time in Rome before our cruise and took the train to the port but for the return from the cruise to the airport we coordinated with a group of cruisers to take a minibus.
