Grand Suite questions on Oasis class

Recommended Posts

There seem to be some great suite deals popping up on Oasis class ships for GS (and some above too).

If I see one, I'd like to jump on it quickly, so I'd like to ask some questions in advance (just in case).

Which Oasis-class ship has the nicest GS .  Perks, suite lounge, etc.?

Is any deck preferred?

Is Coastal Kitchen guaranteed?  By this I mean, not like Jr. Suites where it is on an "as available" basis.  Can I count on dining there without disappointment?

Is it true that GS doesn't have to make show reservations, you can just show up?

Hope you can help ....😍

Correct on the show reservations, except there is no reserved non-Star suite seating in the comedy venue, so you should make reservations for that.

I get those classes mixed up.  Grand Suites are Sky class, correct?  Star is "higher" and I don't know what JSs are.🤔

We have stayed in both the 1bedroom as well as the 2 bedroom Grand Suites on both Oasis and Allure and love them both, no worries about Coastal Kitchen, just make reservation times with the concierge when he emails you the week before and if for some reason you decide to eat somewhere else just cancel your reservations. The breakfast and lunch are also wonderful and no reservations needed. We spend a lot of time in the suite lounge, very quiet and peaceful plus free wine and beer throughout the day.  In our last 4 cruises on an Oasis class ship we have never stepped inside the dining room. As far as preferred deck we have stayed on both 9 & 10 and no difference to us. Of course, our favorite was when we stayed in a Crown Loft on 17, so convenient. As far as shows, the only one we have ever made a reservation for is the Comedy Club.

cruiseokie, Any opinion on decks 8, 7, or 6.  When sales come about, it seems those are the decks left.

8 would be my preference of those because it’s the same deck as Central Park but I don’t think you would be disappointed in any deck.

JS is Junior suite...they don't get "suite perks" except for priority boarding.  And, Coastal Kitchen if available.

We just got off the Allure on a Grand Suite on the 12th deck.  Absolutely loved it!!!   Udie, who manned the bar on the Suite sun deck, knew our room numbers and names from the first day.  We spent many hours on the sun deck meeting new people and with family who were sailing with us.  The staff in Coastal Kitchen was amazing.  Every single person was so welcoming and so eager to help.  The concierge did contact us 6 days prior to sailing.  Nancy Cho and Claudia arranged for a fantastic anniversary dinner as well as made sure the 13 people in OV Balconies with us were accommodated with us in Chops and the MDR.  Best was when we were escorted off the ship yesterday.  VIP Treatment was an understatement.  We left the Suite Lounge at 8:15 and arrived at FLL airport at 8:55am!  There were so many perks that we were not aware of that made our trip special.  Not worrying about towels, showing up 15 minutes prior to Momma Mia and getting fantastic seating...same with the Aqua show!  Getting the notice of free wifi was also a plus.  We had a ball.  If you have the opportunity to sail in a Grand Suite...do it!

What sailings are you and Jose looking at?  We are still looking at cruises for 2020 and 2021.  You will love sky class on Oasis class ships.  See you two on another cruise.

Just off a HOTS cruise yesterday. We did a GTY suite and got our GS suite room number a week prior to sailing. We ended up on the 6th floor and it had good access to elevators and night time activities. We loved the reserved seating at shows and ate at the CK most meals. Our concierges emailed a few days before sailing and we requested our evening meal reservations. We did the Hibachi, galley brunch and Chops. the only specialty of recommend would be the Hibachi meal. The food in the CK is unique, delicious, immediate seating, gorgeous views and quick service. We even tried to eat in the MDR on lobster formal night, but got turned off by the line ans wait, went up to the CK without a reservation and they fit us in.. Even had a wonderful lobster dinner there anyway. The CK staff know you by name amd room number after 2 days.Other perks... No fee for room service unless you order soda or specialty drinks. Can order MDR items to room. We did breakfast one port morning and desserts at night. The outside suite deck lounge area is peaceful with nicely padded chairs, hottub and good bartender.

I thought you were going on Serenade in 2020.

We're looking at Serenade too, ( the itinerary that has Ponce)  but also Meraviglia and Edge.

However the suite benefits are just so nice on Oasis-class ships, we will jump on it if the price is right.  There was some good pricing for August and September, but we have land vacations already booked for those dates .... and I'm scared of hurricane season.

Hope you and Cindy and Hunter are doing well.  💗

Lots of great perks for a grand suite on oasis class ( we did harmony gs)

It was like having a cruise within a cruise.

Are you pool people ? Go two decks below pool for room.

Think you will spen more time in central park or boardwalk , more towards deck nine.

I would pick middle to aft of ship. Closer to suite lounge, coastal kitchen.

On the HOTS We had deck 6 and it was nice and quiet. It was easy to walk down to 5 for the Royal Promenade, or. 4 for the shows. Much easier to go down a couple flights of stairs then have to take the elevator each time to get to the lower floors. The GS is close to elevators and you go straight up to deck 17 for CK or 15 to be between the sports and pool deck.

Yes we only have Serenade booked for Jan 2020.  He rest of the 2020 and 2021 is still up in air.  We are thinking of cruising MSC for 2 weeks in June/July.  Also dont have our Oct 2020 plans finalized.

Well you two will love the Sky class on Oasis class ships.

Join us on the Jan 20 2020 Serenade as it has some great stops.  I havent done a Panama Canal transit cruise yet.  This will be the closest I will get to the locks.

We are doing well and have actually just landed in Seattle for our Alaska expedition starting this Friday.

Avoid deck 7 and 14

What's wrong with 7?  I understand 14, but why 7?

Also, deck 6.  There's always more deck 6 suites available than others.  Often they are the only ones left.  Is it just because they are a lower deck,? or something else?

Deck 7 has a blockage between the aft elevator lobbies.  So if your stateroom is on the starboard side, and you use the aft port elevator, you would have to stop at 6 or 8 to get to the starboard side.
