Is there a specific area to head to to see tidal pools? My kids love to explore the shoreline. What type of transportation from the port is best not requiring car seats for young children?

The first time we were out in Maine, we had driven so had a car.  The tide pools were down the shoreline from Bar Harbor and in the National Park but no entry fee on that drive.  Possibly a cruise pax could use Uber/Lyft to get down there.  It's only 1 mile +, I believe.  The Island Explorer bus system has a route that goes down there also (https://www.exploreacadia.com/routefinder.htm).   Their Route 3, the Sand Beach route, goes down there.
