Frosted Infinite Veranda Doors & New Furniture in July?

I found this announcement about changing to frosted French doors and new veranda furniture for the IV’s, with goal of completion by the end of July. @Silkroad had reported the possibility in April when she was shown a trial cabin with frosted doors. It must be that the trial was successful.

What do do people think? I think it would probably work for us since my DH can sleep in any amount of light, but may be too light for others.

I can’t wait to see the new furniture. silkroad had reported that they would be smaller so less difficult to close the doors (now usually have to move the furniture to do it).

Hope people onboard will post some pictures when converted!

Doors.....We probably would not close them anyhow....we preferred the doors left open to add space to the cabin.

Furniture....hope more comfy with a dining height table...essential!

Size.....I still do not agree the staterom is 23% larger than S Class.,.Math was done way back...i think they are wrong,  seems  tighter with the larger bed. Maybe bathroom space is counted????

Guess they are doing their best to make improvements.,.,awaiting the reviews!

Thanks for posting the announcement. I'm happy to see that they've followed through with the frosting, but disappointed to see the same cumbersome chairs in the photos. Of course, I wasn't given a timeline on the furniture swap. Hopefully, they'll have it sorted before the Apex launch.

I do hope people will post photos (and cabin reviews) about the frosted doors, and the new chairs (once they are in place).

I like the frosted window idea. While it does not help early risers... it solves the privacy issue when changing for dinner while the ship is still in port... Otherwise you have to use the black out shades... which wasn't ideal.

Whatever.  No amount of improvements will entice me to book one of these cabins.  When they start pricing them as the oceanviews they are, then maybe, but highly unlikely.

A few months ago I booked a Concierge 2 for the same price a Panoramic OV was going for.  This was a 15 night with 3 perks for $2799 pp. We are not IV fans but did like the Edge, we felt this was a good deal.

Linda, as you know we liked the IV cabins we sailed in on Edge, never say never😉😀.  You are making a decision based on people who never step foot on Edge.

Yes, I know you liked them.  I'm making my decision based on the pictures I've seen and the pricing.  I didn't say never.  Just very highly unlikely.  Celebrity has 8 other ships I still enjoy cruising on, although I've not yet encountered a Hoppenized one.  Getting the partial on the Equinox next month and the full deal on the Summit next year, so we shall see.  There are lots of other options out there.  And I'm kind of fresh out of itineraries I haven't done on Celebrity, at least ones I want to do.  That's what led to the two Summit bookings next year--fresh itineraries.

We’ll agree to disagree, I’ve sailed on Edge, you haven’t.  Pictures don’t tell the whole story.  Certainly reviews from those who haven’t sailed on Edge are useless.  Enjoy the other ships, your missing the opportunity to sail something unique.  My guess is Caroline would agree with me.  K

I stepped foot on the Edge for my Jan 13 sailing. Had an infinite veranda and did not like the cabin at all. I travel solo so pay double. Will not sail in Sunset Verandas or Suites on Edge to get a genuine veranda because of cost. Besides which, there were other things I did not care for on Edge which require more of a fix than frosted glass and smaller furniture in cabin. I just came back from a delightful Summit sailing in a bonafide veranda cabin.

As well as reviews and opinions of a lot of people that have sailed on the Edge.  I don't think we should discount their opinions.

The pricing is the main reason I won't sail the Edge. I don't care about the reviews that much. My Equinox sailing in December is much less than the comparable sailing the next day on the Edge. I've also priced the Apex for April, 2021 and the prices are still crazy.

I don't discount anyone's opinions.  I do, however, reserve the right to my own opinions.  I have over 200 nights at sea.  I think I am capable of deciding what I like and what I don't.

Sorry, I really wasn't talking about you.  I was referring to all of the Edge fans that suggest their opinions are somehow more informed than those cruisers who have sailed the Edge and don't like the IV.

Frosted glass not a biggie for us..but looks nice for port privacy.  Better furniture ship wide or Celeb wide is a MUST.. Get rid of  the  folks who picked out the  latest  junk.

Interest and appeal of various ships for us depends on what is offered  on a cruise  ship apart from the cabins and itins, including:

Restaurant variety, quality of dining..most better on EDGE

Art collection ( Amazing on EDGE)

Shopping...high prices on EDGE, .too much jewelry

Quality and variety of music, shows and other activities/ entertainment.

Spa and thermal suite..EDGE is great but lacks a true spa T pool

Solarium/ pool experiences..

Bars and lounges

Gambling..we don't but many do

Different spaces: EDEN for us  was a standout...despite not having any interest in the shows or Edenites...

The CLUB has promise for activities , music, comedy. The Theater, though small, is state of the art...we loved it.

Technology... not a biggie for us in gen but found the photo set up / system ahead of other ships

. Magic Carpet, Rooftop ..both with great potential!

Choices are still  there for us on X... We are booked for a return to EDGE, SUMMIT and APEX...and hoping for SILHO again!

No interest what so ever in an IV room

We like it dark to sleep and wouldn't want to AC going out when the window is down

It is not a balcony

These are ocean view rooms --  Price it like that

They still categorize them as IV or Infinite verandas??  Should be renamed as IW or Infinite Window.

DH & I had decided we probably would not be sailing on the Edge, based on reviews and other's experiences.  However, like a real cruise addict, when the casino said...hey free veranda! I snatched that carrot up like a horse who hasn't eaten in a week

Turns out the "free" veranda was a Cat 1A, which has a REAL veranda!!!!  SCORE.  So, trying it out.  As someone else said, the PRICE IS RIGHT.  The date chosen was a holiday, NYE sailing and the prices for paying were in the neighborhood of $3k for that room. NO way would I pay that. Airfare, though...another story.

I suspect the 'cheap seats' room may be like Carnival's Cove balconies... the best deal on the ship.

I do agree with you that I loved the Edge and that pictures do not do it justice.  I cannot address the issue of the IV because I was in a Sky Suite--and it was the best Sky Suite I have ever had.

One oddity I noticed on the Apex when I did a mock booking was that when I priced a sunset veranda, the pick of Celebrity for me was on the side, not aft, and it showed a large balcony, not an infinity on the side. If it's one of the balconies with the circle, I wouldn't be interested, but the pricing was definitely different. Another confusing catagory for me.

If the cabin was on the side... near the aft... and it has a regular veranda... then it is one of the cabins with the round opening... and it is not large. There are sky suites on the edge of the aft... facing backwards. Sounds like they had a programing snafu... if . yo were looking for SV and they showed a 1A or S1
