Stayed at the Hilton Rome airport, Leonardo da Vinci. Hotel is connected by walkway and is pleasant for an overnight, not too expensive, restaurant OK international food. Would go into Rome is time allows, but in our case flew in late one day  from UK ,picked up coach tour early next morning, US company Tauck which corresponded with overnight flights from East coast of states. We would return if needed to stay near airport again.

There is not a lot of significance to see in the vicinity other than Ostia Antica, which is WELL worth a visit -- the ancient port of Rome, in some respects as well preserved as Pompeii.

But if you have not spent much time in Rome, it is also relatively easy to return there from the airport.

Is there a particular reason why you'd choose to stay in this vicinity versus staying in Rome itself?

We've been to Rome a few times, so we've already done the things that we're most interested in.  We're looking for alternatives that might make transportation easier and more convenient.

The Hilton Rome Airport Hotel was great and is connected to the airport by just walking across the parking lot and entering a long indoor walkway to the terminals. It was reasonably priced, clean rooms, and offers a free shuttle into Rome!

Thank you for the input!
