TexasPirate Posted July 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2019 (edited) (This is not a sharing or scheming question!). What is the current status of the drink package rules? I drink but my wonderful wife doesn't.... On all our previous cruises she wasn't forced to buy the package but I know the rules changed a while back to where everyone in the stateroom of age must buy the package.... because people cheat I guess. Anyway, I believe I read that Royal may make exceptions on a case by case basis if you call to book that package. I haven't called them yet because I am hoping for a sale price (although I missed the deep deep deep discount a few weeks ago) I figured I would ask here before I called. My goal is to buy her what used to be called the Royal Replenish and myself the Ultimate... I know the names have changed. Curious if anyone has actually had any luck asking Royal to do this? Thanks Edited July 14, 2019 by TexasPirate
Merion_Mom Posted July 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2019 Yes, if you call, they will probably allow you to purchase one Deluxe and one Refreshment Package.
Ken at the beach Posted July 14, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 14, 2019 (edited) It’s really not an exception. If you call they will allow you to purchase the deluxe and your wife the refreshment package. I haven’t read of anybody making this request denied. SuiteLady Posted July 14, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 14, 2019 Yep, I was able to do this! They gave no hassle or even questioned it. I bought a deluxe and a refreshment package.....

Thanks We usually do the deluxe for me and refreshment for DW. Have to call, can't do it online. We have have never had a hassle or asked to explain beyond she doesn't drink alcohol.
kiddo76 Posted July 14, 2019 #6 Share Posted July 14, 2019 When this is done, can the person on the Refreshment Package still order and pay for the occasional alcoholic drink? The Ultimate Package works for DH, but I only have 1-2 alcoholic drinks a day (usually wine with dinner and/or an evening cocktail).

I seriously doubt that Royal would miss an opportunity to separate you from your money.
