How about the concept of getting a free cruise because you spent thousands gambling in the casino.

Lots of people get free cruises for spending thousands.  The comment was directed to those who tell (lie to)  their spouses or traveling companions, "I only spend $20 so I don't know why I got a free cruise bounceback offer".

How can their partners not know?

As a life-long, card-carrying feminist I still have to admit that there are still women who have no idea how the money is spent.

I thought especially in today's climate, it would really only be a cultural thing for either party not to know the financial situation of the household.

Not really.  Many marriages are more Parent/child than two adults.   I have numerous female friends who leave the finances in the husband's hands.  I don't get it but it works for them...until it doesn't , at which time I have to bite my tongue really, really, really hard.

IMO it IS a cultural thing but it does exist.

I would think the same way.  Sad to hear of the failures.

In our case, we both know the financial situation, but Mrs Ldubs likes to handle the day to day stuff.  She is an accountant at heart.  I couldn't be happier.

The number of people who find out that their partners have bankrupted them only when the power is shut off and the car repossessed is tremendous.

But surely these people know when their partners are in the casino the money must be coming from somewhere.

I am not against one person doing the banking, managing the money etc but surely both should be involved for it to be an equitable relationship.

Ignorance is bliss.....  Those are the people who claim they always win while bleeding cash from the accounts.

I have been on 20 plus cruises and have only lost twice playing slots .I would venture to say that I win ninety percent of the time in land casinos.I have never won more than $900 on any day/night.

If I am up $800 after cruise day one I take it home.

If you win 80% of the time, why would you not go to the casinos every day and become a mult-millionaire?

It might be easier, and faster, to simply take your money and throw it overboard into the ocean.

But throw away the paper notes, not the new plastic ones that are in use in most many countries.

Normally yes that is true and I rarely even play on my favorite cruise line because the odds are so low.  I will never lose what I have won because I am one of those few people who got lucky in Vegas and had a life changing win.  There are a couple of people on the Celebrity board who have seen my picture with the big check in case someone wishes to accuse me of being a BSer.

That's simple, he doesn't win 80% of the time unless he's playing blackjack and is a card counter.

There is no such thing as a sure thing. On land I normally go to a casino once a month.

I went yesterday and lost.

Now you should know that you are not supposed to throw anything overboard.

We have polymer notes, not plastic.
