coevan Posted July 29, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2019 there has been discussion about bringing a universal remote and accessing the inputs which are disabled
Organized Chaos Posted July 29, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2019 One of the big problems is that the remotes don't have a "Source" or "Input" button to switch between the TV's inputs. But, depending on the TV, there's an input button on the TV itself. But even then, it won't always work. There's a data line going into the back of the TV (I can't remember if it's a telephone or ethernet wire). This is what feeds the Carnival info. to the TV's. In some cases, you can unplug that data wire and the input button on the TV will then work. We were able to hook up and use my son's Nintendo Switch (HDMI) aboard the Glory last year. But I think the newer ships have TV's without input buttons or the buttons are disabled. And maybe some older ships where they swapped out TV's. If you try this, don't forget to plug that data wire back in when you're not trying to use HDMI.
Rare crewsweeper Posted July 29, 2019 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2019 And bring a universal remote. Many hotels disable the HDMI ports. But pulling the data connection to the TV and using the universal remote works.
