Tromso and Alta Northern Lights Tours

Recommended Posts

Please recommend some Northern Lights tours in either Tromso or Alta.  We'll be on the Island Princess in October 2020, and although we have OBC to pay with, so far Princess is not offering anything of interest for the night we're staying overnight in Alta nor for the evening we're in Tromso until 11:59 PM.

The independent Lights chasing tours I've found in Tromso all return after midnight (too late). The only night cable car tour I can find (Viator) picks up and drops off in town - the main reason for doing the cable car as a tour is to include transportation, so Viator won't work.

The ship is staying overnight in Alta, so any tour that picks up and drops off at the port would be possible.  We don't want to have to find our way from town to the cruise port in the middle of the night.

Princess will add night time tours as you get closer to sailing.
We are on the Northern Lights cruise this Fall and we wondered why they weren't offering any night time tours at first but now they are.  There are many privated tours you can check out as well.

Do you recall how far in advance of sailing that Princess added night time tours?

Can you recommend any of them?

There are soooo many!
Here's a suggestion:  Go to the rollcall for out cruise...."In Search of the Northern Lights" on the Sapphire Princess, Oct. 19th.  You can get an idea of some that we are booking and the contacts for those tours.
