HiBalcony (8D) Carnival Splendor Cabin Reviews

Hi all,

Can someone give me any ideas about Carnival Splendor´s  8D-balcony cabin? I am planning CS´s cruise from Long Beach to Singapore (24 nights) before she will go to dry dock for her cruises from Australia.

Also I would like to know how is food on board, my last Carnival cruise was in 2001.

As during this cruise there will be 18 sea days, how well Carnival manage nowdays their sea days?

Do they offer any fruit juice (like apple juice) for free during MDR´s dinners?

The 8D's are the same as any other 8D... I feel like the staterooms are all the same across the fleet.  Same storage, nothing remarkable that I can think of.

I think the food on Carnival has stayed pretty good, we've been on other lines and I think CCL's are consistently on par or better than the other major lines.  I feel like this is subjective though, so there will be people who tell me I'm totally wrong and have no clue.

I do believe that they rotate more menus out on longer cruises.  And I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't assume juice is free at dinner.  I feel like after breakfast nothing is free.

We were on the Splendor in March in a 8N. Space was more than adequate for 2 people but our cruise was only 7 days. I thought the food was good; the steakhouse was EXCELLENT! Service was spot on. Activities on sea days were OK, but we spend a lot of time in the casino, and some activities might not suit different ages. LOVED the decor!! And we were on the Horizon inaugural last year and I think I prefer the Splendor; it makes you smile! Every square inch is decorated!

I was on the Splendor November 2018 and loved the ship.  Everyone talks about the pink donuts and hubby/myself loved it.  One thing I highly suggest, you must eat at the Tandoor grill before it is gone forever.  Splendor is the last ship to have this and it's free for lunch.  It was our very favorite place to eat.  We discovered the Tandoor grill when we cruised the Dream and it was amazing.  I knew the Splendor was the last time we would get to enjoy it(the seafood shack has replaced it on other ships) and we ate there almost everyday of our seven day cruise.  We had a regular balcony room on the Lido deck and it was perfect.  Since you will be on her for 18 sea days, I hope you have a few Tandoor lunches!!

For what it’s worth, it looks like the Indian eatery is staying on the Splendor.  Details are vague, but my guess is that the ‘new’ restaurant Masala Tiger will just be an update of Tandoor.

Thanks for all this info. May I ask if room service is still free, as they was planning to charge like Costa etc. do.

Any special food what I should taste on board Carnival? Do they have lobster (MDR) during gala nights?
