Crusin-Suzan Posted August 1, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2019 Just got back from Copenhagen to Boston VOV cruise! Did not miss one port and weather was beautiful! Did have a few misty days but never any hard rain! Ship was old but nice! Crew was great! Food was sometimes good and sometimes bad!
Lyndihop Posted September 7, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2019 Will you be doing a review? We are on the same next August. Been pretty dubious about such an older ship. ps: where did you stay in Copenhagen?

Number one reason was it was free as we have a lot of points with Holiday Inn! Make sure you go to the big food market downtown! Loved the cruise! We had perfect weather so we saw everything! Mostly did private tours with people off our roll call! Ship it is old! Inside the ship is quite nice as it’s been redone! Our balcony needed some serious work! Rusty and worn! But you need this small ship to get into some of the ports so we’ll work it! We we would do it again on the same ship just to see the beautiful sites! I guess by other ship line standards but it’s a mid sized ship in the HAL fleet. There are smaller ships in the fleet 😉 Sounds like you had great weather - good to hear! The stuff that was negative is forgotten when we get home! The stuff that is great is where we have been! If we have a bad meal the next will be better! The couple of times we had negative things happen on HAL they took care of it! We mostly travel on NCL and HAL! HAL for the itinerary and NCL for fun! Used to do Celebrity but switched back to HAL! Have been on most cruise lines as have been on over 50 cruises and hav never had a bad one! Love that all the NCL officers are coming over to HAL! They are all great and know how to interact with the guests!

The HAL name for it is Viking Passage; the Voyage of the Vikings is the roundtrip from Boston which just concluded a few days ago. This years Viking Passage on the Zuiderdam proved to wonderful. However, as for size, the Zuiderdam is large for the some of the smaller ports. At Nanortalik, Greenland, we tendered into the small town and I felt we totally overwhelmed it. I also understand the largest ship to ever pass thru Prins Christian Sund is the Eurodam, and the Zuiderdam is just as long and wide and not quite as high. The Azipods help make it very maneuverable, but a 300 meter long ship needs a lot of room. At Eidfjord, Norway, the dock is about 100 meters long, so Zuiderdam hung over 100 meters on each end with lines ashore like crazy.
mauimacho Posted September 8, 2019 #8 Share Posted September 8, 2019 I was also on the Viking Passage and much prefer something like the Amsterdam but we choose our cruises based on itineraries.
