Stolen map

Maybe the Captain left his map at home and borrowed yours.   I would ask him.

Considering we were on the Spirit two cruises ago and the captain didn't know we were above the Arctic Circle, it's a possibility!

Sorry someone took it.  It was very cool and they obviously thought so.  There were quite a few door decorations on our cruise so I really doubt crew took it.

So sorry this happened. I’ve had door decorations stolen before too.The map is adorable. I would love to make something similar. Sometimes kids will also take the decorations and put them on random other doors as a joke, which is similar to just stealing it, but if your name and cabin # is on there, even on the back perhaps it could get returned to you if that was the case.

I don’t understand how people can do things like that. On our anniversary cruise, someone popped our balloons and took our “Happy Anniversary” sign from our door area. 😏

That is terrible. That sounds like kids or teenagers to me. I can’t see adults, even nasty ones, doing something like that. At least I hope not. That would be totally juvenile. Hope you had a wonderful cruise despite that.

I would definitely have a note on the door large enough for passers by to notice and read.

Some parent will probably see your map in their cabin but have no clue where to return it.

If it was kids, and I sure hope it wasn’t adults, they probably wouldn’t know what door they took it from.

Put a positive spin on it - find a class on board "Arts & Crafts" and make copies of it *SELLING* for a small profit.

Maybe NCL should use your map for a better graphic illustration of the Ships Log data.

Seeing a ship moving on a map would be far better than some black and white statistical chart -

At times that stuff displayed on the Incabin Tv leaves much to be desired - who cares what time it is when

you are in another ocean on the otherside of somewhere and at this time direct me to the ---

"Its 5 o'Clock Somewhere Bar" !

Adults are just as likely suspects.  I had decorations stolen from my Epic studio cabin door and minors are not allowed access.  Well, not allowed to be resident so do not have keys with access to the studio cabin.

Loved your map!  Does your wife use a program to make it or can she share how she makes it?  Interested in making one for our upcoming Cruise.  And I agree - someone grabbed it.  The cruise staff would place it in your room unless one of them took it which I seriously doubt.

I asked her how she makes it, and she wrote this for me. Makes no sense to me, but may help you.

”Print map onto card. Put self adhesive magnetic strips onto top and bottom on the back. Use metal dies to cut out all the shapes to stick on. Cut out picture of the ship and put a piece of magnetic strip on the back to move around the map. Use glossy accents on ship and other bits to give a finish. On pirates ones use googly eyes on skull and crossbones and things like rhinestones for treasure and other embellishments.”

I did just have a chat with our room steward.

He confirmed that they have no problem with these things. He also said that they are not allowed to remove anything, so if it had have been a problem then he would have asked us to remove it, rather than just take it away.

So, just as I ASSUMED. 🙂

That is terrible and very mean.  Whoever did it has a very unhappy life.

My downstairs neighbor moved her boyfriend in and his ex wife used to knock down/break/steal our yard decorations almost every Friday/Saturday night on her way home from the bar down the street. She was killed on 9-11 and we have never had another thing broken or stolen since.

Karma always finds you. (& no I am NOT saying she deserved death but things always have a way of catching up to you).

Haha, makes perfect sense to me, I do crafts and I’m sure DH would be scratching his head if I tried to explain it to him🤔😁. One idea to put to her is to make the little ship from shrink plastic. I have some ink jet printable shrink plastic I’ve been wanting to use. Thank you and her for the instructions. Great idea. Now to see how long it stays on the door. I will have to make an extra for inside the cabin too.

People steal the craziest things.  This is sad.  However, you could get some sweet revenge.  When I was in college we did laundry in a mass laundry room.  Believe it or not, some people would steal clothes and even laundry baskets.  Best revenge ever was a guy who's laundry basket was stolen from the laundry room.  He returned to the laundry room and hung up a big sign  "For the person who stole my laundry basket, I brought the lid that goes with the basket.  I will leave it here for your convenience."

Maybe you can hang a similar sign but tell the thief that they forgot the magnet that went with the map to hang it properly.

This way the entire deck knows there is a thief among the ranks.

Just saw a posting on a Social Media site showing a Freestyle Daily saying the decorating of cabin doors is prohibited.

I'd like to see that freestyle daily...3 NCL cruises and my door (and others) were decorated..once my TA even added decorations to my door...it wasn't prohibited

Posted a few minutes ago on a Social Media site we can not mention here-- Posted by Karen Hernandez.  This notice was posted directly under the notice about electronic devices.  This might be something new.  I have known a couple  General Managers (Hotel Directors) who did not allow it.
