I am currently sailing on the Majesty of the Seas, and decided to share some of my observations about Majesty's "quirks".

Majesty has three sets of elevators.  It is a VERY weird set up.

The forward elevators go from Deck 1 to Deck 11.

The midship elevators go from Deck 3 to Deck 7.

The aft elevators go from Deck 5 to Deck 14.

Got that?  😉

Deck 6 is only half a deck.  It is referred to as the "Tween Deck", as in, between 5 & 7.  It only exists in the front half of the ship.

I still love Majesty; no matter where, or however slow the elevators go. Does she still have the Compass Deli/Cocina?

The Promenade Deck is Deck 7.  Deck 7 has ocean view cabins.  They should be called Promenade Deck view cabins.  Or more accurately, Promenade-walking-people-can-look-into-your-cabin-so-keep-your-curtains-closed cabins.

The Compass Deli is still there, and currently is slightly Park Café-ish.  It's open until late at night.  Last night there was one kind of wrap, one kind of panini, almost empty salad bar, and lots of dessert-y treats.

Posted (edited)

I think it might be because of the placement of the galley.

ah, so at night it doesn't become the Mexican eatery?

For Diamond, Diamond Plus and Pinnacle C&A:

There are no C&A lounges on the Majesty.

During the usual happy hours (4:30-8 P.M.), the VCL hosts an event.  There are signs designating the front section of the VCL for a "Private Event".  People just walk around those signs.  I saw no servers asking to see cards, but some people I chatted with said that they were asked to show their cards to get a drink.  No one asked me, and I was served VERY nicely.  (wink, wink)

Note:  Only those forward elevators go up to the VCL. (in case you weren't paying attention to my earlier posts)

VCL = Viking Crown Lounge

No.  I can't tell you when it changed.

Because of the MJ Deck configuration, we rarely wait to use the elevators unless we are going to the VCL.  It's weird, just a few steps here, a few steps there, and before you know it, you have reached your destination!.

The Schooner Bar is still the largest (one of the largest?) in the fleet, and one of the best.

The Casino still has A FEW of the older style slot machines that I like.  I dislike all of the new, flashier machines that RC is installing.

Oh, wait.  There was a do-it-yourself taco/nacho station.  (I don't eat that, so I didn't look too closely.  I can get a pic tonight)

The Windjammer has been adequate.  Limited selections, which I don't like, but the quality of what they have is good.

Coffee ice cream last night!  😉

This cruise is five nights.  No lobster on the one formal night.  But I like the duck.  It was possibly the best duck I've had on RC, and I often order this dish.

It is possible that they'll serve lobster tomorrow, Night 4.  We'll see.

Loyalty Ambassador does a quasi-concierge's job.  Vernon is very good.  🙂

For anyone who hasn't been on in a while:

Things have been moved around.

LA is now down on Deck 4, just a station at the end of the Guest Services desk.

Next Cruise is on Deck 4 where the library used to be.

Internet café is in the same place.  Probably too much trouble to relocate the wiring.

There is still a mannequin in the Centrum wearing a tuxedo.  I don't think that Maj rents tuxes any more.  😄

At least on cheap, summertime cruises (this is a re-routed Cuba cruise), muster drill is apparently a good place for a guy to pick up girls.

(I should have taken pictures)

The theater is very comfortable with mostly open sofa-style seating, not individual "chairs".

People left the production show in droves last night.

The crew are WONDERFUL.  Attentive, friendly, caring.

It's the "great little ship" syndrome.  🙂

There was an interesting incident yesterday in Costa Maya.

Only two ships in port:  Majesty of the Seas and Harmony of the Seas.

Harmony got there much earlier and left much earlier than we did, so I was able to watch Harmony sail out.

Harmony left a little late, but even so, there were six pier runners, who just barely made the ship.

One person didn't.

It was a member of the crew!

We have him on the Majesty now!
