I’d love to know what is served on Mongolian night in WJ. I don’t normally eat there, but I haven’t had Mongolian BBQ since the last one in Jax closed.

Our experience on several other ships has been that it is very much like Mongolian BBQ you see in land restaurants.  You pick out the incgredients and they stir fry it for you.

Will do. It was noodles chicken/beef and some odd vegetables. I'll try and get an update

Thank you for posting about Deck 7 and the Aquatheater! DH and I are sailing HOTS for the first time Feb 2020. DH hasn't been on Oasis class yet...I did a TA on Allure, so have a clue. I'm making all the plans...I decided to get the UDP but am feeling the pressure of all the different reservations and having too much planning on our cruise...so I am most appreciative of seeing a place that we might check out without having to have show reservations.

I would be curious to know...can you use the UDP for the upcharges in for dinner in the Solarium?

My DH would be so happy if I would eat dinner in WJ just once! I think he cruises just for Windjammer and Horizon Court.

My younger brother has sworn he will eat dinner at WJ every night of our cruise, even if it means "dinner" comes at 6 so we can make our Izumi and Chops reservations at 8:30. 😂

Your husband and I would get along quite well.

Harmony was hit or miss at night. Very busy, but some food was pretty good. St Thomas night was really crowded late.

Laura says Mariner Jammer this week has been cold food, and to much sauce. She didnt mention the overall ambiance

Evenings in the Windjammer have definitely evolved over the years. It used to be a very quiet atmosphere but more and more people seem to be using it as a dinner option. That is a bit unfortunate. I saw your pictures of the chocolate buffet above. On the cruise that we last shared on Adventure, the night that they had the dessert special in the Windjammer it was set up ridiculously. It was a long line of desserts that was roped off so you had to start at the end of the line no matter where along the course the dessert(s) that you wanted happened to be located. It was such a CF. Going back for any seconds was out of the question due to the long line of people. I'd love to know who the genius was that thought that setup was a good idea. It turned that night in the Windjammer into a very uncomfortable chore and I couldn't wait to get out of there.

Have you been on Harmony with the hot stations? Those are generally excellent.  Plus it's a little quieter back there.

BTW, the chocolate pics weren't mine

Great photos! Love seeing the different places to hang out on board. DH and I are sailing Harmony for the first time in Feb 2020...it's a ways off but we're excited. It'll be our first cruise as a couple. DS heads off to college next month and this Valentine's Day included cruise should be a lovely vacation for us.

BTW...I think my response is buried in the Cats discussion. Member123 is my Mom. Her name is Pam. I've been following along partly because of our up and coming cruise and partly because my parents are on this sailing. Fun that you met on board. Please tell her that Anita (her daughter) says hi if you see her again. Say hi to Dad too...his name is David, but he might go by "Dave"...I'm not sure...I call him Dad. LOL.

We will also be on Harmony Feb 2020 - the week of the 9th!

A Not So Fine Line 😉

Last week I alluded that A Fine Line is not all that it's cracked up to be.

Just sit back and let me explain.

They use the biggest, deepest, coolest pool at sea, and there is almost no diving.

There's a little jumping, but not much diving.

What you do get is really loud annoying music

Irritating Strobe lights

Spinning, Splashing, running

Some acrobatics

Dripping aerial performer

Slack line is kinda fun

High wire act

More splashing and stomping

TMNT costumes (that was good, I forget who said that)

But the problem is it's a freaking three ring circus (look that up youngsters)

There is so much happening at the same time you miss half of it.

And doing it in the dark doesn't help. You never know where to look next

Now we sat in the third row of the premium seats. That was probably to close.  I left with a sore neck.

Oh and I'll discuss the site lines of the Aqua Theater later. Something I never noticed before. It may be a flaw in the entire Class.

FWIW, Oasis of Dreams is much better, the show kind of flows seamlessly at a much easier pace.

And they dive a lot.😁

and much better use of the synchronized swimmers.  In A fine Line they just keep getting pulled halfway out of the pool by the ninja stomping, splashing chair pushing, acrobats

But both shows could do with less movie screen time, that's just irritating.

OK rant ending, enjoy a few pictures. Keep in mind, these are taken with my cell phone. Don't expect the quality of a semi professional like @twangster

Spinning Man is still spinning. He eventually walks, then runs, then splashes and frowns. Spinning is the best

20190807_222148.thumb.jpg.0c4d660d214648a67855107ef9a81612.jpg

OK this young lady kind of floats over us all the time. I think she's running in place as well.

20190807_222353.thumb.jpg.211c61c4a13eaf20205433d4292bd889.jpg

But now she transforms into one of those firefighting planes they use for forrest fires.  they dip her in the water, her TMNT costume picks up a couple gallons of water, and then they fly her over the theater to make sure everybody gets wet. Not just those being splashed by the dancing Ninjas.  Oh, and then they dip her again and repeat.  It takes a while to get everyone wet.

20190807_222335.thumb.jpg.8b4e457249afd3c9672af516302ac6cf.jpg

Sorry, but I didn't get any good slack line pics.  Those guys are fun to watch. I'll bet their routine is a bit painful.  Guys would understand why.

I also missed the high wire, I think I have some pics on my phone from last year.

After the high wire, we get two high divers, one is female.  That was cool.

20190807_222415.thumb.jpg.b08a3c959aa89811768115d5c000ab9d.jpg

20190807_222437.thumb.jpg.175db2bd37b83d5d863859cb1de8fd40.jpg

Now typically the high dive ends the show.

Nope, more splashing. Lots more splashing, since I was on the end, I gracefully snuck out.

And back to the cabin to call it a night.  It was a weird day.

St Maarten and the lovely Wanpen tomorrow

Back on my semi Smartphone to get some fine line pics from last year.  Actually the thread from the President's cruise probably has a lot of these

It's a fun read. The link is in my signature.

Standing Still Man. I think he spins 20 minutes

And the end. They never smile.

We must have sat further up. I seem to have used my phone for these as well. Go figure

I may need to see what I wrote about them last year.😉

Have you signed up for the M&M? I think we are really close on the roll call to getting the minimum required to have one! There's been some chatter on our roll call...still a ways out...but it feels like it'll become a bit more active as we get closer:

"A Fine Line looks" like they are trying to be Cirque du Soleil and failing at it.

In my opinion, the pool is an afterthought.

If it wasn't for all the splashing, 80% of that show doesn't even need a pool.

I hope Hiro is better

Ok, this is going to include next week. What kind of things do I need to find out next week?  I seem to have 3-4 open requests.

CR Signature tier security line

Izumi as a D+ BOGO

Large group in MDR

Chocolate buffets and fountains

I am kind of curious what Mexican food is served in the Windjammer on Mexican night and if it is any good.  I am usually not a fan of the WJ for dinner but may consider it one night.  Thanks

Hiro has more diving, but still not as much as the ATS on Oasis and Allure. In fact the lower diving platforms are on Symphony where as they aren’t on Harmony.

Cruise Life Rick and I had a discussion to why there is less diving while watching Hiro and we came to a conclusion.  With less diving, and adding slack lining, dance choreography, a cabled aerialist, and a high wire act there are more likely less shows cancelled on the 2 newer ships and the 2 older Oasis Class ships. I remember watching the girl in the floating umbrella, at the beginning of Oasis of Dreams, go from the centre of the pool to under the stage right curtain with one lurch of the ship.  Needless to say the show was cancelled before it began.

It is just a theory, but a rescheduled show makes for unhappy guests and crew who have to prepare for another show they weren’t expecting to do.  It’s our thinking to why they have gone this route, which means less diving but less chance of the show being cancelled.

On other ships we've seen tacos, enchiladas, mexican stew, rice, refried beans, several other entrees whose names escape me.

Yes and tethered for just in case. If they need to cut out that small section of the show it doesn’t happen, however 99% of the show did.

Whatever the reason for the changes, it still was Oasis of Dreams that sold me on the Oasis class of ships. And yes, the first show we had reservations for was cancelled. I'd rather deal with rescheduling than lose the diving.

Let me see, flashing strobe lights.

That is my one weakness, I cannot handle.

Just something about them that makes me .......................well, time to get up and leave.

Now I don't get sick, or headaches, nothing like that, just bother me to the point that I cannot handle.

Guess this will be casino time for me...........................

When we did the Amber theatre on the Allure, when the spot lights would hit the audience I would just cover my eyes and close them shut for the time being, thank God, they only last a little bit.

Thanks for the heads up on the lighting on this show.

Safe travels.
