Recent Paradise Review With Inaccuracies

I just read a recent review on the Paradise and it has several inaccurate statements. " Be careful in the casino since they double the amount of cash you insert in machine if you answer yes to charge to my card. Just beware."   We have sailed on the Paradise 7 times and 35 times on Carnival and have never had this happen. Have always received whatever amount we entered in the transaction, when either taking money from what I have saved to my card bank or when charging to our cabin. There is a minimum of $10 I have to take out to put onto the slot machine from the banked amount saved on my card. Reviewer must have pressed a wrong button during the transactions. "You have to pay for Room Service." That is partially true but the reviewer makes it sound like all Room Service comes with a charge. There are many items that are still free, but there are some items for which there are charges.

Was the review here on CC?

I wonder if the reviewer misunderstood, and there was a hold on their credit card for the amount they put on their casino account, and therefore thought it was double! Because, like you, I've never seen this happen on any Carnival ship.

Also, I agree with the room service comment- there's been so much discussion about it, and the change they were planning to make (and then abandoned), that adding to the confusion is just not good.

Agree with original post of this thread.  Never on any CCL ship have I been charged for room service or double in Casino.  Like others said, they must have hit a wrong button or something.  Room service does have a few for a fee items, but most are included at no charge.  We always tip the delivery person, but other than that have never been charged for room service.  But tipping is not required.

A good portion of reviews are full of exaggerated crap.  People use them to try and settle a score, on the other hand 99% of people who are perfectly pleased with an experience will never document it.  You have to take all that in context.

I read reviews after we get home of every cruise we go on, usually I find a few that leave me scratching my head wondering if we were on the same ship.

Was on the July 20th cruise, I don't do room service, but I know that charge is only for certain things. I lived at the slots every night. The definitely is not true about the machines. What you pushed the buttons for is what you got.

Yes, they do charge for Room Service items late night until 6am. I wish some of those items were available at other times.

For those of you who thought I would write a review, I'm not going to apologize for your disappointment as my purpose was to correct several of the inaccurate things the reviewer had written about the Paradise as indicated by the title of the thread I didn't want people reading that review to think those incorrect items were fact when they aren't. If you want reviews of the Paradise just go to the Reviews section of Cruise Critic and read them.

No need to apologize- pretty much everyone else got the point of your thread, I'm not sure why they felt the need to post that!

Since when? It was increments of $5 on the Dream 2/3/18 and the Sunshine 2/14/19.

Minimum of $10 last week on the Legend.

I think I misunderstood what Djptcp was referring to.  I was thinking about transferring money from my Sail & Sign account to my casino account.  I've never transferred money from my player bank back onto my card.

Yes, I read the recent Paradise review and wondered why the inaccuracies....we sail on her regularly and never experienced either issue, though I have paid the upcharge for the room service pan pizza which is delicious!

Yes, the review is a recent one on Cruise Critic.

Not sure why you thought it was important to point out this specific review. You can literally find dozens of inaccuracies every day in the ship reviews posted on CC.  Some are likely honest mistakes but others, as previously mentioned, are people with an ax to grind who deliberately put their own spin in their reviews.

I stopped reading the reviews on the Official CC Review board.  I read the reviews posted under the various cruise lines, but not over there.  Seems those folks manage to find Cruise Critic to post a review but couldn't (or couldn't bother to) find the boards to do a little reading prior to sailing.

Like so many posts, there is a lot of hyperbole.  Unrealistic expectations.  Extrapolating a non-perfect experience to mean everything about the ship/food/crew/cruiseline is horrible.

Yeah, I quit reading the reviews because they were so extreme and unlike the 30+ sailings I've taken.

Not sure what people are saying about putting money in the slots from your card. 🤔 I usually draw anything from $50 to $100.  I mean, it's not like you have to play it all right then and there.  What you don't play stays in your bank.  I'm confused.
