Sorry, nothing comes to mind just now re Freeport. unless the late hour has me totally confused, that was usually just a brief stop for LLBean's on our way downeast. How far Downeast are you going? -- that's straight head out of Ellsworth rather than taking the right turn to Bar Harbor. by the way, I remember Ellsworth when it was just 1 resturant & a motel by the side of the road (other than the old downtown for locals -- which you won't go through unless you hit a detour or miss a turn).

 

And do be aware that many of these are seasonal -- especially the lobster/clam shacks.
