MN people, Quantum class ships

Recommended Posts

We are from the chilly state of MN.  We hate to repeat a ship, and will be done with the current Oasis class next year.  Would love to try Quantum class, but hesitate due to the price of flying out east, and having a couple of cold weather days... so my question is... are these ships so cool that they are worth it?  Note, we love giant ships, and Oasis class is our fave 🙂. We are DINKs.

We are also from Minnesota and while we haven't  sailed RCL out of the upper east, we have done NCL breakaway in March. For us, it is something we will not do again. The first 2 days of the cruise were really cold (jeans and sweatshirt) and the seas were rough. We all  got seasick one night. We have never gotten seasick on any other cruise.

Someone else might have a differing option, for us, it did not work and we won't do it again.

Anthem out of NJ is fine.  The ship was built for cold weather sailing, lots of indoor activities.   2 indoor pools in addition to outdoor pool.  Indoor area that has bumper cars, roller skating, basketball,  etc.  Very different than Oasis class.  One of our favorite ships.

Anthem is an amazing ship and as was said was built for cold weather like we get in the North East. The indoor pool area is really incredible, that is one cool room. The solarium for adults again same thing but even cooler, its such a beautiful part of the ship. Two70 is one of the coolest I have ever seen on a cruise ship, the views from the back of the ship out of its wrap around huge windows is awesome. We will be on Anthem for a second time next month and can't wait. I want to at some point sail Anthem in the dead of winter, January or February, I think that would be super fun.

Also take into consideration the weather for your flights in case of snow etc, hence you will need to plan to arrive to NY at least 2 days in advance at this time of year, not worth the hasle. Rather head to San Juan for Freedom, where at least itinaries are more interesting and the ship will get "Amplied", hence it's like cruising on a new ship 🙂
