Post cruise tour Citivecchia to Amalfi Coast

I am a bit concerned about the logistics of coming off the ship in Citavecchia with several pieces of luggage and roll boards. Hard to maneuver on multiple trains from port to Termini and then to Sorrento. Would love to find a short cruise (they do not seem to list in Italy-comparable to our Caribbean hops from Ft Lauderdale) r guided excursion that would include transportation and handle the luggage. Found a few, but they severely limit luggage. Any ideas that do not have us on trains with connections and do not cost an arm and a leg?

We are wondering the same.  We are wondering if we should just do a day trip from Rome.  We are getting off the cruise,  going to Rome for a few days, then want to see Amalfi.  Luggage is a problem.  We are even considering keeping a room in Rome for a day in order to stay one night in Amalfi. What is the time frame for train from Rome to Naples then to Sorrento?

The fast trains take about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Rome Termini station to Napoli Centrale station. From this station you can change trains for the Circumvesuviana (creaky old commuter line, no reserved seating) from Napoli Centrale to Sorrento station, this leg takes about 70 minutes.

The state of disrepair and crowding on the Circumvesuviana trains seems to be getting worse. (It's never been particularly pleasant). You might consider instead taking the fast train to Naples and then getting a car service to Sorrento. It will be a much more pleasant experience and the car can take you direct to a hotel if you are overnighting (or longer) there. The cost varies for such a transfer, but I just looked at one online source and it was approximately 109 euro for 1-2 people. (You may be able to get a better deal if you book the r/t transfer option.)

Another option might be to take the fast train from Rome to Naples, get a taxi to the ferry port, and then take a ferry to your destination (Sorrento, Amalfi, Capri, etc -- wherever you choose to stay).
