Rare A&L_Ont Posted August 23, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2019 Did you know Christmas is four months Sunday? Does Owen know that school starts a week Tuesday? Now that I have shocked both you and him, let’s get to the fun stuff. I’ll tell you more; about the summer heat and these summer nights.

Rare A&L_Ont Posted August 23, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted August 23, 2019 Some of you know that Lisa, Owen and I have a tradition of cruising the last week of August. This year we knew well in advance that we could go, unlike last year when we booked 4 days prior to boarding the ship. This year we have had more than enough time to book flights, meals, and plan out our ports of call. But first, I’ll share a bit of what we have been up to since our last live review. Owen has been keeping us busy with sports. He’s was on two baseball teams and a soccer team. It has been a successful year. They had a ball tournament win, and their team placed first in their division for the entire season. They finished second in the year end tournament to our local brother team, to which many of them play together on the same select team. LOL, Owen’s almost taller than his coach. And then there was soccer. Owen’s team was undefeated the entire season and just this weekend they won their year end tourney called the Challenge Cup. These kids have played together for almost nine years on the pitch, and every recess at school. They all know where each other is going to be, and they communicate well on the field. I don’t know if they will have another season like this, but you never know. Now with summer sports concluding we moved into the next season, hockey. This week he had his second week long camp of the summer. Here’s Owen winning the face off. Their team team was victorious. His tryouts for the rep hockey team should begin the first day of school, nothing like education getting in the way. 😉 I guess this would be an appropriate time to state that he got a great report card last year.
Rare A&L_Ont Posted August 23, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted August 23, 2019 And what have I been up to? Well obviously work, but there’s no fun in that. I did the Hot Rod Power Tour again this June. This year I took a new Storm Trooper, but there’s a change. It’s new and improved. It’s a Trackhawk. What’s a Trackhawk? Some sort of prehistoric flying fire breathing dragon, like in Game of Thrones? A was actually going to use a photo of a dragon breathing fire on Notre Dame Cathedral. Both Lisa and Grandma Sharon said it was too soon. That was months ago, but I digress. The heart of the dragon.

Rare A&L_Ont Posted August 24, 2019 Author #8 Share Posted August 24, 2019 I guess you could call it a monster, with upgraded mechanical’s by Jeep. The biggest one being a supercharged 707 HP engine, with more torque than you’d know what to do with. Quarter mile in under 12 seconds type of power, 0-60 in 3.3 seconds etc. As my mom would say, that’s silly. Now on a practical front, it has all wheel drive and enough space to hold hockey gear. In other words it’s perfect for the winter climate to which we live in. I can’t wait to do donuts with it in the snow. A great daily driver. More importantly, it holds lots of cruise gear. That being said, I still think the luggage loading debate will be coming tomorrow morning. This year’s Power Tour started in Concord, North Carolina and ended in Norwalk, Ohio. Seven cities, in seven days. I found many great food stops, lots of BBQ with sweet tea along the way. There were interesting destination venues each day as well. From drag strips to NASCAR race tracks, we pretty much saw it all. One of the most fun things was doing pace laps at Bristol Motor Speedway. In this photo I’m doing almost 80 mph. I have a video on my YouTube Channel but there’s a little swearing so no link here. Way too many pics, so you will only get a couple. It’s Bristol Baby. Martinsville. Early morning at Fort Wayne, IN. No food porn tonight. You’ll have to wait to I come across it in our travels.

Mary I’ve been watching NOAA, NWS, Ocean Weather, and James Van Fleet. Ironic you mentioned Hurricane Andrew, that was my Frosh nick name at University. Like wine I’ve mellowed with age. Rare A&L_Ont Posted August 24, 2019 Author #14 Share Posted August 24, 2019 And on the transition of weather, we’ve had a few storms roll through the farm this summer. Thankfully nothing bad. A couple photos but they sure don’t compare to photos at Sea. Now that’s a shelf cloud. The calm after the storm.
Rare A&L_Ont Posted August 24, 2019 Author #15 Share Posted August 24, 2019 (edited) So the bags are pretty much packed. Or at least as much as can be done tonight. Dishwasher is running and right now the Goonies are on in the background. They just had the scene where Mouth was translating to Rosalita. Maybe my most favourite scene of the movie. Now I just have to find some Lucy photos to finish tonight off. The problem is I need to narrow them down. Be back in a bit. Rare A&L_Ont Posted August 24, 2019 Author #20 Share Posted August 24, 2019 And then there is Lucy. We had to pick her up at the neighbors yesterday. She had been gone since Monday. To lazy to walk the half mile home. Who has who trained? Here she is doing what she does best. She might have moved 4 metres between some on these photos.

Rare A&L_Ont Posted August 24, 2019 Author #22 Share Posted August 24, 2019 Lisa’s been busy too. Taking care of me, and running Owen where he needs to be when we can’t go together. She may have kept me in line and on schedule too. Really, is that a surprise? What she’s really looking forward to is the first week of September, when the O-man heads back to school and serenity returns. No more visiting cousins swimming in the pool for the day etc. Peace and quiet. Then, she will personally re-enact her own poses similar to Lucy above. She deserves it. And for those interest in Lisa’s iPad downloads for this trip, the final season of Orange is the New Black is in lockdown. She was extremely happy to have seen the season finale of Handmaids Tale the other night at home. Praise Be. She might also start to watch “The Ranch”, or “Dead to Me”. I don’t know if that is a show, or what 15 years of marriage did. I, on the the other hand, have half of Season 3 of the Grand Tour ready to go.
Rare A&L_Ont Posted August 24, 2019 Author #23 Share Posted August 24, 2019 That’s it for tonight. The Mets game is on in the background. Now that they have Marcus Stroman they are our dark horse team. Let’s Go Mets. Great thing is, tomorrow morning isn’t an early alarm day. Set for 7am. Night all.
