Enforcement of Bottle Beverages at Miami port

Recommended Posts

Just arrived to Empress...

Tried to check my case of water....porters told us we needed to carry it on that they aren't allowed to take the water anymore....period!  I tried an extra tip to no avail....

No problem! I'll just put it on top of my carry on as I've done many times in the past. Went through security and there was a person whose sole job was to enforce the water/wine limits. They took 12 of my bottles and told us they would deliver them to the cabin on the last day.

There was over 100 bottles of soda/water that was taken before mine and 20 bottles of wine.....

Just a heads up if your bringing extra.

No lectures please.....😎

  • Clarea changed the title to Enforcement of Bottle Beverages at Miami port

A friend of a friend said yesterday that she has various bottles like mouthwash ready to decant various liquors into.

I told her they’re onto that and it will be confiscated.

She bet me $5 her hooch will get through.

Normally with my luck I don’t bet, but I can use $5.

I hate, though, that they’re getting so tough on water! 12 bottles for 7 days for 2 people is a little stingy. Especially for the Caribbean!

Thanks Shelton and hi to Leslie.

Leslie is in Jacksonville at my daughter's house.....but I'll tell her you said hello. Taking my mom on our annual cruise.

They will gladly sell you as many as you need😉

Having gambled enough at the casino to enjoy free beverages, I always try to bring a few bottles of water on my trips back to the room.  But Royal being a Coke products only entity, I always try to bring my 12 bottle limit of Pepsi Zero.

Buying bottled water is bad enough. Buying it at Royal’s price would be embarrassing.

Port Canaveral porters have not been taking the "slap a tag on a case" of water for years now.   Total pain for the bag handlers to transfer that.

However, if the water is in a duffel bag, they take it.

Don't buy it at all.  Filter your own, if you object to the ship's water.

It’s not the taste; I don’t know what it is. There is something in the ship’s water that make my feet and ankles swell so I can’t get shoes on and my skin is stretched so tight it hurts.

Since I started bringing water the swelling doesn’t happen.

This is on both Princess and Royal, and I don’t want to go back to any of the others.

Princess charges more than the stores do, but it isn’t nearly as high as Royal’s price.

Usually the extra tip works....not today

I have the same ankle swelling issues, so i restrict myself to drinking gin on the ship!!

This is exactly what I am doing on our Anthem cruise next month. I only drink water so the soda package is a no-go. I will drink filtered ship water. Its gonna save me money in the end. 😁

I thought about leaving it in my carry on this time....but believed I'd have to go to the "Naughty" room to claim.

You only go to the naughty room if you have something suspicious in your checked bags.

Yes, indeed they do.  😉  I have been putting 6-8 bottles of Dasani in a tagged separate duffel bag with our odd things like backbacks/totes, jackets, etc. for years now, and continue to do it.  Has arrived every time.
