YC now charging more for the 3rd and 4th passengers

I took 2 YC cruises this year and noticed that the 3rd and 4th passengers were charged approx 25% of the cost of the 1st and 2nd passengers (this was for both cruises -- one in March and the other in August).

Now looking for ward into 2020 and 2021, the same room on the same ship, the 3rd and 4th are now almost 75% of the cost of the 1st and 2nd.

I guess the hype of the YC is now reflecting in the costs.

Just an observation.

I will comment that our April YC cruise is going to cost about $250 more than our cruise this past July...and that's with a 30% casino discount and our Voyagers Club 5% discount.  I know it's peak season for Spring breaks, but it has gone up in cost for theYC. Just to compare apples to apples, I looked at next July and compared it to what we paid this past July, and it comes out about $2K more.

Our cruise this coming June is about $2k more than our cruise in YC last year.  Still a good bargain in our eyes.  Still half price compared to the exact same week on Harmony in a GS without a drink package.

Is this based on the age of the 3rd/4th... as in children vs adult (drink package)?

My guess is this is to discourage 4 adults in one room - food/bev of 4 adults etc.

My kids are still kids/children so not sure why the upcharge.

And to make it weird, I found a cruise in March 2020 for msc meraviglia going out of Barcelona that the 3rd and 4th are charged only 25%. Possible low season but curious why the sudden change -- supply -- demand -- I get it but sucks.

Total cost has gone up at least by $2k ..

We booked a June 2020 cruise in YC on Seaside last January. At the time, our 3rd passenger was 16% of the cost of the first or second passenger. When we booked a similar cabin for June 2018, the 3rd and 4th passengers were $100 each.

The 3rd passenger was still very cheap compared to the first 2. I guess MSC is trying to make more $$$ without raising the advertised fares?

Yeah I should have booked a long time ago while the rates were low.  YC is a good product but (and especially since I am Canadian), the cost of the YC is like 2 regular cruises --- not sure if I am a quantity or quality kind of guy.

We have a YC cruise on Seaside for spring 2020 that I booked ages ago. As in a full year ago.  Price is something like $2200 each for guests 1 and 2 plus $141 in port fees and taxes... $159 each for guests 3 and 4 and 5 (kids) plus $141 in port fees and taxes.  I've been thinking of cancelling, but....

Same cruise priced now is $2800 each for guests 1 and 2 plus $191 in port fees and taxes (??why are these higher??) and $389 each for guests 3, 4, 5 plus $191 in port fees and taxes.

Also Canadian here!
