Have not booked a cruise with p& o since they altered thier web site.

Trying to book a select price inside cabin but asking for payment before I can choose freedom dining and double bed. Does anyone know if this option will come later?

Have you clicked on 'change cabin' on the first page. If you do this it will then show you available cabins on each deck.  After choosing you get to select dining.

Your choice of dining and bed configuration appear on your Cruise Personalisedr and you can change it at any time (perhaps not in the last week or so before departure though).

I didn't know this.

Obviously I've just had a look.🙂.........and there it was my double bed all made up!

I'm going to check my other bookings now.

Nice to be able to get confirmation and make sure everything's as you want it.  Sounds as  though you've got a few to look forward to! 😁

I agree that as you are likely to be spending a large amount of money on your cruise, best to book either with a specialist agent or by phone with P&O. I usually choose the latter and get excellent service. Why trust something so important, expensive and with many variables to a computer when you can talk it through with a person who specialises in taking such bookings and giving sound advice? The old fashioned ways are sometimes the best.

I'd certainly agree that it makes no sense not to use a specialist non High Street TA.

But it's bizarre that the P&O website is still so dysfunctional.

It ought to be so simple to provide a website, even with dynamic pricing,  that enables you quickly and simply to get through a full choice of cabins and other options to a final price, held for maybe an hour to allow you to confirm online (pointless) or transfer to a TA.

P&O do sometimes leave you speechless at their ineptitude.

I agree, I'd never book online.  We use a specialist Cruise Agent and always have a discount from them.  Remember that even if someone books Select, if they book very near the sail date it may not be possible to request specific dining because, for example by that time all Freedom Dining may have been taken; it seems the most popular choice at the moment.
