Europe Land Tours

Has anyone ever done one of the land tours in Europe before going on a Baltic cruise? We're looking at one that goes from Budapest to Vienna to Berlin, etc. and wondered how they work. Take a bus between cities. Any info you can give me would be wonderful!

Did that exact itinerary in 2017 and enjoyed very much.  Big, comfortable tour buses are used between cities and within cities for the included tours and getting you to different restaurant venues used.  Luggage delivered to hotel room and picked up again when moving on with you only having to move your own hand-carried bag(s).  Would have liked more free time to wander on our own, but that was just our preference.  Guide that accompanied us from start to getting on board ship was excellent as were all the local guides used.

Pretty good explanation of details here https://www.princess.com/learn/faq_answer/cruisetours/cruisetours_europe.jsp

Hope this helps.

Land tours that we took, four different companies, only provide luggage handling for one bag per person. Any luggage extra (carry on, personal item, and if you bring an additional big bag) you tote yourself.

One other company, Rick Steves, frequently stays in more local type places that might be in the old town where the bus can't go. You tote all your luggage.

Make sure you know what service you will get and pack accordingly.

Over the years, my parents and we have done land tours in Europe (and other places) through General Tours (aka Delta Dream Vacations, not sure if the current Delta Vacations is the same group).

We have enjoyed every one of them.  Well organized.  Good local operators, and great guides.

The used to have a great tour that did Budapest, Prague and Vienna.
