Hypothetical example. Lots of rounding.

4 grand pp for a GS is 8 grand plus tax

150% supplement makes it 6 grand for solo

1 grand pp for an inside is 2 grand plus tax

150% supplement makes it $1500 for solo

Total for two cabins around $7500 plus tax

And like Maritime said, twice the ammenities.  Works very well on TA's and repos where suites are expensive and insides are dirt cheap

But then the spouse in the Inside has no access to Suite Perks, right?

LOL. If you think being Diamond feels like forever...wait until you get Diamond+ and it is forever and a day. :classic_biggrin:

I think getting from D+ to Pinnacle takes forever 😀

If we keep the same level of cruising on Royal it will take us 5 more years before making it to Pinnacle.

Of course they would, just like anyone else

Thank You! Never cruised Royal Caribbean so not sure about their policies.

There's been something happen with my current preferred cruise line, that I will likely have difficulty managing due to Legal Blindness. I'm starting to look more seriously at other cruise lines including Royal Caribbean.

I hope you are able to find a comfortable home with Royal, we have been very happy with them for many years.

From personal experience, I called C & A for the sole purpose to UNLINK myself with a freeloader boyfriend that I had been living with, cruising with, etc.  They quickly demoted him from D+ to whatever his point status allowed him.  So I would hope that all people divorcing would unlink themselves, and only relink their status when they have remarried.  Just my opinion.

Interesting, that's the first I heard of anyone being demoted when they are unlinked.

News to many of us, maybe because it's Boyfriend and not Spouse. Been couple cases, inc a thread on here of someone trying to take their status back in Divorce unsuccessfully. Also tried same with my Ex 10yrs ago, she is still a Diamond Plus with 40 points. You sure his status was downgraded or was he just unlinked?... Now my one Daughter is 20 and a Diamond Plus from my status with only 4 Cruises, my other Daughter is Diamond Plus but she has the points to be...

Or perhaps can only have their status if they travel with the original partner who they gained the elevated status from??? 😮

First I have heard of this as well.  I always heard that even unlinked the ex retained their status but with their own earned points

Thank You.

Having to fly interstate to board increases the costs, so it will probably be short cruises but a short cruise is FAR better than no cruise at all!

Sorry I have not responded in a timely manner.  But yes, He DEF was demoted to just Diamond, and to his own accrued points status (many of which I paid for!). Not sure why divorcees are unable to unlink themselves.  Somehow it just doesn’t seem fair.

I know one who wished they had done that, when she made pinnacle, her almost ex did also without having cruised in a few years.  He called C&A and booked the free cruise.

Honestly, I was discussing this with someone on FB. Other than room service and in room MDR dining, what does a suite guest get that a Pinnacle does not?  Of course that could change at any time in the future.

A bigger nicer room. 🙂

Or year or two ago we were looking at a junior suite  for the two of us.  We were at the diamond plus  150% supplement level. The J suite was a bit overpriced, but the interior cabins were next to nothing.    When we did the math, it was cheaper to get one interior cabin for my husband, and  a J suite for me.    Booking this way was actually cheaper than booking the two of us in the J suite.

If we had to play double for each cabin it would not have been worth it. But that 50% supplement really made a big difference.

M

That is wild pricing, where 50% of a Jr Suite price is more than 150% of an interior cabin price.

My daughter who is now 22 is Diamond in her own right and received this email from RCCL on querying Crystal Block points.

Children will be taken out of a relationship with a parent or guardian upon their 18th birthday date. If it is found that a dependent or child is not immediately removed from a relationship upon their 18th birthday and accumulates a higher tier status outside of this time period, the dependents record will be adjusted back to the appropriate tier status and/or individual cruise points.

Turns out she actually has more points than me as when she was 15 she cruised with family friends so she get the crystal block 😂

This is exactly what happened with my sons. They had the same status as us (D at the time) for a while before their next cruise where their points were adjusted. It only took another cruise for them to get back to D in their own right but the point is that the highlighted words do happen sometimes.

I tried to talk the wife into taking one of these 'free' cruises the casino keeps sending me prior to our next sailing in April so we can make the next level and get more of a discount.....she won't do it....so then I said I was going to do it without her....I thought it was a great idea...we only need 4 points.....but evidently it wasn't a really good idea to say I was going to take a cruise alone...without her 😉

It is a good idea if you both have the same number of points (she will get the points and status by default if you just go) or if you had the most points to begin with. I have more than my husband so it does him no good to cruise without me (at least that is what I presume). But if I cruise without him he still gets the points. It might work the other way too but I'm not telling him that😉 But after we got married his point total matched mine and I was Emerald when he cruised for the first time with me. My kids are Diamond as well and have 34 actual points.  Our goal is to be D+ before the oldest turns 18.
