Why can't I direct message anyone?

When I click the envelope icon to send a direct message to another member I get an error code that I am allowed 0 messages per day so I cannot do it -- why??. How can I fix this ?

You can't.  That has never been a feature of CC.  It's there as part of the software template, and can be used to message members by the mods only.  EM

I discovered that yesterday. You would think instead of the pop up saying "You are only allowed to post 0 messages per day. Please try again later", it would say something like "Private messages can only be sent by moderators only".

Thanks Jenn, that would be really helpful. We probably get a question a week from someone who can’t send a message.  (Now, if you’d just make the “find your [name of ship] Roll Call” links disappear, that would really cut down on the confusion. 🙂)

How are we now supposed to contact specific forum Hosts when we have a question?

 

Been here for 16 years and I finally need to contact one!

One can have a user notified of a post using the @, as seen in post #7.

 

Type @ and the first few letters of the username. You may have to pause but a list of usernames will appear. Use the arrow keys or mouse to highlight the desired user and press enter. This last part is necessary, simply typing @ and the username will not cause a notification. If you've done things correctly @K.T.B. the username will appear as white text on a blue background. When you submit the post the user should be notified. (I'm not clear on if a users notification settings can block these notices.)

There is also a 'report this post' link if your problem is related to a particular post. Else email CC at community@cruisecritic.com or at help@cruisecritic.com. Te individual forum hosts can be reached by email as well.
