Your absolutely correct, the house wants to make its money first then at the end they pay out some so that they can get the people to come back and then we noticed other cruises the opposite.  My other half would totally agree with you that there is always that "one"slot machine, he has the smell for it should you say lol.

Empress of the Seas and did well.  I like the RCL, Blue Chip program better than Celebrity, especially since they reduced the benefits. 

RC is our favorite cruise line, but always wanted to try Celebrity...currently, my sister is on the Equinox and both she and my brother in law been texting me and sending me photos and telling me how better Celebrity is (with the exception of the casino being completely tight on the slot machines) so we decided at the age of 56 to finally give it a try, we booked the Edge for the end of this year.  But every RC cruise, we always hear or see of people who have won jackpots or decent amounts of dollars on the slots and my other half is very lucky, I a different story lol.

I like RC casino Royale program much better, they give us junior suite complimentary cruises, and I know Celebrity does not do this but to finally experience Celebrity is our main goal, and we shall decide after Celebrity do we stay with them or go back to RC or even probably cruise them both in the future.😁

Celebrity is a quality cruise line, you will be pleased.  The difference in the two casino programs is black and white.  Celebrity, you have to reach 25,000 points to receive free drinks and some benefits.  Before they changed the program, at 25,000 points, you received speciality dinning and and at least $175.00 in free play. RCL, at 2,500 points you get free drinks, plus emails with free cruises.  I do think the slots are looser on 

RCL.  This is just my opinion.

The slots must vary from ship to ship on RCL because I was on Symphony about two weeks ago and the slots were abysmally tight. Never saw any big wins. Even small wins were in short supply. We cruise many different lines and the ships we have been on recently on all lines seem to have tighter slots than in the past. We will be on the Equinox in November, but I am not holding out much hope that anything will be different there. I may go back to just playing roulette. I count my gambling money as entertainment but on the slots that entertainment can be over quite quickly

I don't gamble, I don't understand it.  I do participate in the Slot Pull.  Our cruise on Equinox is coming up on Friday and we have over 40 people booked into the slot pull.  20.00 each person.  I don't expect to "win".  If I do, great.  I hope to just get my 20 back.  I look at it as "entertainment".  I don't feel the "pull" into the casino.  

 

We cruised last year with friends who are FREQUENT gamblers.  They have some type of status with NCL.  They were given a free oceanview room and they paid the difference for a Haven suite.  When we were at the pool, they were in the casino.  I truly believe she is addicted to gambling and that is the only reason she has a job.  Every "weekend" trip her and her husband take is to a casino.   

 

Anyway, touchy subject for me.  When my ex and I were in the process of our legal separation, I found out about all the gambling debt she (we) accrued.  She was going to casinos after work/weekends and I had no clue.  This was in Ontario, Canada.  She had 2 big wins (24k and 25k).  They were also tax free.  Silly me, I thought she had the midas touch and was always winning.  She ONLY told me about the wins, not the losses.

My dw and I have both each won over $1000 on slots on Celebrity ships years ago.  But we have more than given that back to them over the past few years.  It seems slots are super tight now.

That is where I won $62 in April on the roulette slot machine. You can generally afford a slight progressive system on those machines if you start betting a couple of pennies and restart whenever you are up to risk of a dollar. Takes awhile to win very much, though!

We have lots of casinos in the STL area, and I saw that my favorite game (Let it Ride) is NOT offered on the Equinox;  Therefore I probably won't be spending a lot in there;  Maybe video poker or something

If you win over $1200 as a U.S. Citizen you have to fill out a form and you receive a 1099-Misc at the end of the year and you declare winning (and losses) on your income taxes.  I won $1800+ paid no taxes while on the ship, but received the 1099 and included that income on income taxes.

that same cruise I won $400 - another cruise won $800+

We were on a transatlantic cruise with a man you told us he had played $30,000+ - don't know how much he won/loss.

Another cruise there was a lady that played in the casino all day long - she got free cabins all the time.    She was actually paying for the "free" cabins with her losses in the casino, but she loved her free cabins.

He's right.  There are lucky seats in every casino.  Your job as a gambler is to find one.

Someone else replied that you claim wins over $1,200.  That's true if it's in one spin/one hand, depending on the odds of the game. 

 

You can win $5,000 and no declare it if its in 10, $500 wins, for example.

In all games players have lower odds than casino, but at least some are somewhat close.

We were on the Norwegian Getaway last January and I hit $1,500 on a Quick Hit penny slot.  Unfortunately I was down to my last few cents so I had to back my bet down from $3.00 (max) to $1.50.  Then I hit.  Wouldn't you know it?  I often wonder if I had kept the bet at $3.00 what I might have won!  Oh well, $1,500 isn't a bad haul I guess!  But this was the very first time I had ever won on a ship casino.  The slots tend to be pretty tight.  But that won't stop me from trying again on future cruises.  Going on the RC Allure in January, 2020.  You will find me in the casino at some point I'm sure!  Good luck everyone!

Actually, it’s not correct except for the part about finding the right machine. You need to understand how slot machines work and everything I’m writing can be verified on the internet.  Slot machines are run by a random number generator , RNG.   The RNG is set at the factory to the specs of the buyer. Generally, the higher denomination, the higher per cent of payout. The machines are set from about 80% to up to 95 and even 98 %.  The difference over the course of thousands of spins is the house cut so they will always win. Someone may hit a jackpot but the machines still will always pay out the per cent.   The RNGs are generally not changed except for malfunction.  Based on all this, the casinos do not have to change things, they will always win.  Changing the odds is the # 1:myth of slot machines.  Technology may be changing in some areas and it might be possible in the future but not now on Celebrity.

We've participated in quite a few slot pulls over the years.  A while back on Equinox we had 40 cc members pony up $30 each for total of $1200.  Each person played 10 spins at $3 max on $1 wheel of fortune machine.  We hit a few wheels, but none paid more than $30.  After everyone had gone our "winnings" totaled $430,  a loss of 64%.   That swore me off cruise ship slots for life.

 

On the other hand dw has a good friend who only plays penny slots $.01 at a time.  Sits there for hours and usually wins.  Last sailing she came home $50 ahead.
