We get up really early and do not want to dress and wander looking for hot water for tea.

The Sapphire Princess out of Southhampton seems to have them but that is the only ship Princess has put them on. So if you hare on the Sapphire Princess soon, you are in luck. Otherwise, no.

The Horizon Court typically opens at 5 a.m. and is very casual. You can find hot  water for drinks there.

I had room service deliver hot water at 5am on the Regal in February.  They were there in less than 5 minutes.

It would be too cool by then to make tea. You need water just off the boil to brew tea.

The Horizon Court always has hot water available.  As well as the International Cafe which is open all night long.  No need to search for it.

Water was very hot. Much hotter then the hot water at the buffet.  I had no problem making tea.

No they're not. Plenty of ships have kettles in the staterooms. Currently Sapphire out of Southampton has them, so does Diamond in Japan.

Sorry, but not "plenty" of ships have them.  Ships sailing on very select itineraries have kettles.

Wasn't just on about Princess, but other cruise lines as well.  P&O UK also owned by Carnival Corp have kettles in all cabins on all ships. So does Marella Cruise line(UK cruise line). I would of thought P&O Australia also have kettles as Aussies like a cuppa.

We're Canadian and also like our cup of tea.  However, we don't need a kettle in our stateroom nor would we even expect one.  So many other options available to passengers without having to have appliances in our cabin.

You could ask your cabin steward for a kettle and if there are any and he gets you one a $5 tip is what I give.

P&O have kettles in every cabin as do RCCL out of Southampton England.

On Princess if they are not in the cabins for that particular cruise than I would think no.

A few years ago we were on a Celebrity ship RT out of the UK to the Med.  It had a kettle--only time we've seen one.  We usually sail on Princess and have sailed out of Southampton frequently, but usually to the US; never had a kettle.  So it looks like cruise lines base this on what they think will be the home (and preferences) of most of the pax.

Side question: the hot water spigot in the buffet, does anyone know what the nominal temperature is supposed to be? We are bringing French presses on our next voyage and are hoping the water will be hot enough to brew with.

Tea is made from the leaf of the Camellia sinensis.

Infusions made from other herbs are Tisanes

I agree. Herbal "tea" is not tea.

I was on the Sapphire in June and kettles were in every cabin.  It was on the corner shelf where the old TV once was.  The TV is now wall mounted.  It used the electrical outlet that the TV once used.

That is the correct way to make tea and not to upset people but herbal tea is now classified as a tea in many countries and widely drunk.
