Uncrowded Beach

Looks like we'll be one of 5 ships in port when we are there. Ship is not getting in till 10 so everywhere is going sooooo crowded. Is there a beach that might not be shoulder to shoulder? Don't need anything fancy just need chair/umbrella rental and restrooms.

Probably better off on the eastern beaches.  Cayman Kai next to Rum Point is pretty large and has facilities.  rum Point may not be too badly crowded either on a week day.  In the Bodden Town area there's a small beach called Coe Wood with facilities, a fish fry shack  and a children's play area.  Taxis can take you to any of these.

Unfortunately, all of the close beaches with facilities, especially those on Seven Mile Beach, are going to be crowded.  The closest beach that might be less crowded is Smith Cove, a short taxi ride in the opposite direction as SMB, and they have restrooms but no chair/umbrella rentals or other amenities.  It’s either that or rent a car and go further afield, to one of the beaches the PP mentioned.

 

A taxi is no longer a viable option to reach the Rum Point area, as the rates have increased with the new taxi rate system and it’s approximately $140 US each way now.

WOW!!! Hadn't realized they got that high!

Yeah, the new rates by mile don’t change the fares much in town, but they absolutely kill the idea of taxis to the Rum Point area.

 

We have a house there (where I am right now) and a car rental for the 10 days was cheaper than two taxis (here/back to the airport) even though we don’t really need it.

We went to cemetery beach in march.  It wasn't crowded.  But there are no facilities.  or chair rental places.

We always went to the 7 mile beach, sometimes busier than other times but we still enjoyed it
