Wondering if you have connected successfully to Medallion net wifi with an older Android phone?

I ask because my phone connected to the old sort of wifi with no problem on Coral Princess last year but

when we went on our next Carnival cruise my phone was not compatible with its updated wifi and their app would

not load at all on my phone!

Just wondering if I will also have trouble now on Princess???

Any thoughts??

It probably will work as the Medallion Network is not an app.  You logon through your browser on your phone.  The Medallion App provides Ocean Ready, Ocean Now, and a Casino app.  I worked the Medallion Network with my Fire with no problems

If you have apps on your current phone they will work. The problem as I understand it, the old phones won't load the new apps. I have an old iPhone. I can't down load any new apps period. Not enough support as 1025cruise said.

OK thanks. I see the difference now . The Medallion network is just a wifi network that I can connect to like I do in stores/restaurants etc.

The Medallion app is a different story!

So far Star Princess has the Medallion network but not the app( I think)

Apple maintains tight controls over many things. Some of them are to your benefit, and some of them are to force you to buy a new phone.

I doubt whether his android phone is cut off from apps

Yes, at some point developers need to switch to new SDKs that remove support for older, unsupported, versions of Android. Apps might work, but they might not be getting updated.

Now, whether or not the phones couldn't support the newer versions, that's a discussion for another day.
