Just off the Elation, any questions???

Hello All,

 

We just got back from the Elation (review to come soon) so if anyone has any questions I can try to answer them while everything is still fresh in my mind.

 

We had a great time and really there were only one or two negatives in the whole cruise and they were very minor (to us). I will hopefully get a chance to write a proper review in the next couple of days. The only excursion we did was the cave tubing in Belize (through X-Stream and we loved it).

What freebies were you able to obtain? Or did you try?

Could you look up the price of the Dzibilchaltun tour?

 

Any ideas on a good, quiet spot for a couple to chill out away from the crowds?

Weather was great. A little cloudy the first day and one night it got windy and the ship swayed a little (I am not the right one to ask though since I am former Navy and my perspective on rough seas is different then most ).

To either side of the pool deck forward there are doors to an outside deck (you kind of feel like you are walking behind the counter of the bar almost to get to them) you can go on a deck that I saw very few people on. You can also follow this deck forward and you will come to a stairway (ladderway on a ship ) that will take you up to another small deck then you can go up again to a deck above the bridge. I saw very few people out on these decks at any time day or night.

I brought back a stack of papers about a half inch thick. If it was paper and they handed it out I have a copy of it

Someone had posted the Capers from Elation a little while back and that was so helpful that I thought I would grab everything I could in case anyone needed the info (I even have the price catalog from the onboard duty free that includes liquor prices )

Hi Jim - Welcome Home!!

 

I am not sure if you can answer my ? or not, but maybe someone on the thread will know, if not.

 

I am considering a last minute RCI, Rhapsody of the Seas cruise. Yes, I know this is the Carnival board, LOL.

 

It appears I would be flying into Houston Hobby. Long story short, is IAH is not an option. What are my reasonably priced

transportation options to the pier???

 

Flying in a day early is not an option as we have a graduation committment the day before the cruise would be leaving.

Hi,

 

Our 1st and trial cruise. We have a 2 1/2 older with us. Ports are Progresso, Cozumel and Belize. As far as excursions go, can anyone please suggest what's going to be suitable to take the young one along? So far I have the natural zoo trip in Belize. Also, where do I buy the excursions from (for less)? I have read many suggestions not to buy them from the cruise line, since they cost quite a bit more....

As soon as you get off the tender in Belize you will be bombarded w/people trying to take you on an excursion.

 

Our tablemates did the Belize zoo and said it was not very good. The locals wanted $25 pp to take my family of 4 to the zoo and that didn't include entry into the zoo. After talking to our tablemates we were glad we didn't waste our money.

 

We started talking to someone in one of the shops there and she said that on cruise ship days you can't just catch a cab and go to the zoo, but on any other day it's an inexpensive cab ride.
