Port Botany cruise terminal

Recommended Posts

It would be a great outcome if the Garden Island option was adopted. Not looking forward to going to Botany Bay.

Big call that one. I agree the chardonnay socialist was abysmal, but PM's Rudd x 2 & Gillard would have him well covered in terms of reverse GOAT, and many would say the honourable member for Warringah would be in the running also.

Totally agree (except maybe for Mr Wabbit) but did not want to start a "debate" and seeing he was in charge when the decision was made to reject GI  I took the easy way out 🤔

I am starting to think that maybe the Botany Bay " option" may be furfy to bring pressure on the Fed govt to approve GI.  Now that Australia' s worst PM  ( and GI neighbour) is no longer around they probably figure they can blow some taxpayers money just to prove their point. Either way we probably will not see another terminal operating for a couple of years minimum, which does not help, but  the cruiselines should be able to work around it short term. Realistically, the third terminal is really only needed for a couple of months a year anyway and with Brisbane, and to some extent Melbourne, taking some of the pressure off Sydney and cruise schedules pretty much in place for a couple years,it's not that critical.

Could be some kind of reverse phychology to get voters on side.

You may well be right.

Perhaps Newcastle or Port Kembla are better options. Many cities around the world have their cruise terminals an hour away.

Novel idea, we could use Fort Denison if done properly then.

A water slide in a tunnel under the water?

 Wouldn’t you need scuba gear?

No, If the passengers cannot hold their breath for at least two minutes, then they don't deserve to get to the other end.

I can see where your coming from mic.

They would be worthy of the unlimited drinks package then.

Drink 6 drinks with out having to take breath.

A absolute genius.

I wonder why Hayes Dock cannot be used permanently? I have been to plenty of overseas container docks on a cruise.

yep, but then there it is a working dock and the cruise lines would need to schedule it in as the dock would be shut for the day, I bet it would be very expensive once loss of revenue for the dock is worked out

Hayes dock sounds good
There’s constant talk of getting container trucks of the road, especially the M5 tunnel.

Send the container ships to Kembla or Newcastle .

All they have to do is build a terminal.

And once the ship was docked, I don’t think it would interfere with air traffic.

Just reschedule the air traffic as the ship comes and goes

It would be quite nice sitting on your balcony plane spotting.
