Royal Eliminates Neighborhood Balcony Perks

I understand those of you who are badmouthing the CP and BW balcony cabins.  I, too, prefer an OV balcony.

But I have met PLENTY of people who really really really like the "novelty" of the CP and BW cabins.

Some people like the view, music and tranquility of CP cabins.

Some people like the view of the Boardwalk and the Aqua Theater from the BW cabins.

Chacun a son gout.

Especially the ones with the big balcony

I’m curious if we will get the perk.  We just changed today from our interior room to a boardwalk balcony for our Nov 2019 cruise because the price was cheaper!  However, with us switching after the announcement I wonder if we will lose out?

You should get it since your cruise is before Jan 1, 2020.

I love the BW balconies; we've been in one on all of our Oasis class cruises, but the perks and the lower cost were always big reasons that went into our decision to book one. We don't have anything Oasis booked or planned, but without the perks I think I'd hesitate to book one again, it will all come to the difference in cost between an interior, BW balcony, and OV balcony.

We have booked the cp balconies the last 4 cruises. We happen to like them and the plants and the open sky and fresh air. We do not try and change the wine, we do not ask to bring more people for our lunch, we do not take the casino lesson. We simply enjoy the cp cabins and a little cheaper.  We do not abuse the free bees like a lots of people who feel entitled to do. Could be a reason why they got rid of them. How ??##$$%%^^ to bring 4 people to your 2 people free lunch.

I have a B2B on Harmony Aug 2020, 2 connecting BW rooms. Booked specifically for the perks, JR's and soda pkg was an excellent feature for my teens. Also booked NRD so now I am expected to be ok with $200 OBC?

I'd at minimum expect to be able to change room/category without the fee. Perhaps I'll wait to see how much push back Royal gets from others in similar circumstance.

My CP balcony was less than an inside when I booked it for this Thanksgiving.

Folks on other social media pages have stated they called Royal about this and complained and got their $50 OBC upped to $100 OBC.  Can't hurt to try.

Thats because i switched from a central park view to snag one of the oversized central park balconies next to living wall for my 10/25/20 sailing on oasis today.

But that's ok. I don't drink wine. And i got the dx bev pkg for $18. Oh and i already bought the unlimited dining pkg.

I actually asked this question on Monday with regard to a cruise we have booked in October 2019 on the Allure.  When I did a mock booking the perk was no longer listed in the description for a neighborhood balcony.   Looks like Royal has implemented this change but has now decided to make a formal announcement.

I love the CP balcony.  I have stayed in 10229 at least 4 times now.  Oasis/Allure/Harmony and now Symphony in October.  I enjoy sitting above the music and watching the ppl pass by.  I also enjoy the xtra large balcony.  My question, what are these perks of which you speak.  As I stated, I have had a CP room at least 4 times, never knew there were any perks.  Enlighten me please. Thanks

From the early Oasis sailings until December 31, 2019, every CP balcony included a bottle of wine (should have just been in your room either on embarkation or delivered soon after), a complimentary lunch at Giovannis/Jamies Italian (can also be used at other specialty venues at lunch, such as Sabor), and a casino "class" (blackjack usually).

I love these cabins over an OV. I live in FL so I can see the ocean anytime I want. I would much rather sit on the balcony and people watch. It has great entertainment value.

Any idea what the typical charge is for lunch for 2 at Jamie's/Gio's? My guess is the bottle of wine is worth $15-$20 tops? I'm curious because we have a cruise in Feb 2020 in a CP balcony and I'm thinking of calling to try and get the OBC bumped up...

We have had CP/BW  cabins with the perks , never requested a change to anything .

This is a cost cutting move, we never took the sippy cups home , all that recycling now eliminated and  extra storage of said sippy cups.
